Over the years we have seen a number of father and son duos in WWE - notable among them being Randy Orton and his father Cowboy Bob Orton. Apart from real father and son duos, we have also seen fathers and sons who are only related in storyline such as Kurt Angle and Jason Jordan.

We take a look at a number of real and fake WWE father and son duos who have graced our televisions.

#3 FAKE - Kurt Angle and Jason Jordan

This reveal and storyline ended up being quite a disappointment in the end. We all expected Chad Gable to be revealed as Kurt Angle’s illegitimate son, but WWE swerved us with Jason Jordan.

Not only did this break up American Alpha, but the storyline itself never got over with fans. One problem was that fans had a hard time buying into this kind of storyline in this day and age.

#3 REAL - Ric Flair and David Flair

Ric Flair is one of the icons of pro wrestling, a timeless performer and a born champion. He’s regarded as one of the best to have ever stepped inside the squared circle and his 16 world championships are a testament to that. Ric’s daughter Charlotte Flair is now carrying on his legacy in WWE as one of the most dominant Superstars in WWE’s women’s division.

However, before Charlotte, Ric’s son David, tried his hand at pro wrestling in WCW. Unfortunately, David Flair didn’t take to the ring naturally. He actually wanted to be a State Trooper when he was younger instead of following in his father’s footsteps. He signed with WCW during the Monday Night Wars but never really ended up getting over. He was a heel for most of his run and placed in some of the bigger storylines in the company at the time.

He was quite successful during his time in the company, title-wise at least, winning the US Championship and the WCW Tag-Team Championships.

#2 FAKE - Jack Swagger and Jack Swagger Sr

Jack Swagger had a quaite a successful run in WWE, especially earlier on in his run with the company. Swagger is a former ECW Champion, United States Champion and Money In The Bank winner. He cashed in his Money In The Bank contract on current Inner Circle teammate Chris Jericho in 2010 to win his first WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Also in 2010, Jack Swagger appeared in a couple of segments with his “father” Jack Swagger Sr who was portrayed by Jimmy Golden. In Swagger Sr’s first appearance, he was attacked by Kane after his son ran away. On his second and final appearance, he was taken out by MVP.

#2 REAL - Randy Orton and Cowboy Bob Orton

Randy Orton is one of the most successful Superstars of his generation. Now a 13-time world champion, The Viper has definitely cemented his legacy as one of the greats. Orton has even eclipsed what was achieved by his father, Cowboy Bob Orton.

The Viper and his father also briefly appeared on WWE together in 2005. It started with Cowboy Bob Orton trying, unsuccessfully, to help his son beat The Undertaker at WrestleMania 21. They went on to team up at No Mercy later that year as they beat The Undertaker in a handicap match.

#1 FAKE - Andre The Giant and The Giant

Andre The Giant is one of the greatest Superstars in WWE history and put Hulk Hogan over at WrestleMania 3 to start the era of Hulkamania. In 1993, he was posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as its first member. WWE still honours Andre at WrestleMania with the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royale.

Years later, when The Giant made his WCW debut, he was dubbed as the son of Andre, in storyline only of course. The Giant later signed with WWE in 1999 and has himself gone on to have a Hall of Fame worthy career as the Big Show.

#1 REAL - Shane McMahon and Vince McMahon

One of the most iconic father-son duos in pro wrestling has to be Vince McMahon and Shane McMahon. The two have been involved in tons of classic storylines together, both on the same side as well as feuding against one another. When WWE bought WCW, it was Shane who had bought the company in storyline.

Even after Shane McMahon made his WWE return in 2016, he was immediately thrust into a feud with his father when Vince made Shane face The Undertaker at WrestleMania 32.
