#2 Money in the Bank - Chris Jericho

Y2
Y2J came up with this historic match type

It was WrestleMania 21, and Chris Jericho had nothing to do on the show. He was frustrated and came up with the idea of the Money in the Bank ladder match. Jericho pitched this idea to the then General Manager of RAW Eric Bischoff. Although obviously, it wasn't Eric who gave Jericho the green light, it was Vince McMahon.

Jericho thought this as a great opportunity for the upper mid-card superstars to be a part of WrestleMania. Because not everyone had a match for the biggest show of the year.

Jericho's original idea was that the winner of this match would get a title shot the very next night after WrestleMania. But Vince changed it, and since then we have the 12-month rule in which a superstar can cash in anytime and anywhere.

At that time, this match was exclusive to the RAW brand, and Edge was the one who won the inaugural match at WrestleMania 21. Edge kept his contract for a while, and cashed in on John Cena at Elimination Chamber 2006 to become the new WWE Champion.
