3 WWE tag teams that made no sense and 2 we wanted to see more of

The Two-Man Power Trip and Hogan and Edge are just some of WWE's bizarre teams.
The Two-Man Power Trip and Hogan and Edge are just some of WWE's bizarre teams.

In the WWE, the simple concept of the tag team has become one of the company's most long-standing ventures.

On paper, the tag-team is easy enough to understand, putting two individual stars together, so fans can see how well these two stars can work together, in the hopes of capturing championship gold.

In WWE history, there have been countless tag teams, with The Hardy Boyz, The Dudley Boyz, and Edge and Christian all rightly being considered as the greatest teams of all time.

But for all the great teams there have been, there have been just as many bad teams, and possibly worst of all, the weird, strange tag teams that made absolutely no sense.

However, sometimes there are diamonds among the rough, and on occasion, these random pairings have left the WWE Universe wanting much more.

Here are three WWE tag teams that made absolutely no sense, and two tag teams fans definitely wanted to see more of.

#5 Made no sense: Hulk Hogan and Edge

Edge legdrops his way to becoming a Tag Team Champion with the Hulkster

Hulk Hogan and Edge have a lot in common. Both are former World Champions, WWE Hall of Famers, WrestleMania main eventers and Royal Rumble winners.

But when the young Canadian was put with the Hulkster in 2002, things could not have made less sense.

Winning the WWE Tag Team Championships on the July 4 episode of SmackDown, it seemed the team were only put together to give some extra Americana on Independence Day, despite Edge being from Toronto.

The team was short-lived, as they would lose the titles not long later, with the Hulkster walking away from in-ring competition, whilst Edge would enter an entertaining feud with Eddie Guerrero.

Despite their short time together, the team of Hogan and Edge remains as one of the most baffling pairings in the history of SmackDown Live.

#2 Wanted more of: Steve Blackman and Al Snow

Blackman was not happy with Al.
Blackman was not happy with Al.

If anyone has ever doubted just how tough Steve Blackman is, you should know that he now works as a Bounty Hunter.

So when this legitimate toughie was paired with Al Snow, many fans were left scratching their heads.

After snow forced Blackman to wear a cheese-helmet, the duo was christened 'Head Cheese' and was put in plenty of skits, with Snow constantly trying to get the stoic Blackman to crack a smile.

One such incident ended in Blackman (thankfully off-screen) seemingly beating a cow to death with his nunchucks, whilst another saw the Lethal Weapon be forced to do stand-up comedy, to disastrous results.

Together, Snow and Blackman only had one shot at Championship gold, coming up short against the New Age Outlaws.

Despite this, the duo lives on in the minds of Attitude Era fans, who would love to see more of Head Cheese.

#2 Made no sense: Batista and Reverend D-Von Dudley

This awkward character could have sunk the future World Champion.
This awkward character could have sunk the future World Champion.

D-Von Dudley may be part of arguably the greatest tag team in WWE history, but this certainly wasn't it.

After being split from his brother Bubba in 2002, D-Von became a Reverend and enlisted a rookie Dave Batista as his Deacon.

Unlike the Dudley Boyz, the teaming had very little success together and could've easily sunk the career of the future World Champion and MARVEL star.

In his book, Batista humorously recalls getting ready for his debut, which included him splashing out on a $5,000 suit, only to look on in horror as the sleeves were ripped off.

After a few months together, the pair was split, as D-Von was moved to RAW, quickly reuniting with his brother, whilst Batista would join Evolution on Monday night, and the rest was history...

#1 Wanted more of: Team Hell No

Bryan and Kane as Champions.
Bryan and Kane as Champions.

When AJ Lee became the RAW General Manager at RAW 1,000, she did not make things easy for her former flame Daniel Bryan.

Booking the Bearded one in a match with Kane at Summerslam, things were made worse for D-Bry when he was forced to take an Anger Management course with the Big Red Machine.

However, it was at this course that comedy gold struck, as Bryan and Kane worked amazing together.

Not just a great comedy double act, Bryan and Kane worked incredibly well together in the ring, though often had disagreements.

Winning the Tag Team Championships just weeks into their pairing, Team Hell No teamed together until the summer of 2013, when Bryan focussed on his WWE Championship goals.

Despite a brief reunion earlier this year, it seems the WWE Universe have seen the last of Team Hell No.

#1 Made no sense: Bobby Roode and Chad Gable

Bobby Roode and Chad Gable celebrate after a big win on Monday Nig RAW.

To be fair, these two are an active tag team on Monday Nights, so still could improve.

But, when you look at Bobby Roode and Chad Gable, the team make very little sense, despite their high-standing on RAW.

Roode, the arrogant showman, has very little in common with Gable, who is all about using technical skills to out-wrestle his opponent.

Similarly, Roode has established himself in WWE for years as a singles star, making his random pairing with the establish tag-wrestler Gable even more bizarre.

I realize that Gable may never get the chance to partner again with Jason Jordan, who he was most successful with, but perhaps the unfortunate end of Jordan could've springboarded Gable into a singles run.

Simply put, both are talented, but both deserve better.
