Yes, this was Chris Benoit's big match. What he did three years later doesn't change its greatness or the delight fans felt at the time for finally seeing him win the big one. That's what this was all about.

Winning the Royal Rumble was his greatest opportunity, but Shawn Michaels and Triple H had an intense rivalry going on at the time, and by deciding to switch brands to challenge Raw's World Heavyweight Champion, he'd need to get through them both.
