Edge was on an absolute tear in 2011, putting on great matches and establishing himself as a top player. But fate dealt him a cruel hand when medical reports indicated that his neck injuries were more serious than imagined. He had to retire from active competition immediately, or he'd run the risk of being wheelchair-bound.
An emotional Edge came out on RAW to break the news to the WWE Universe.
Holding back tears and trying not to break down, Edge cut an emotional and heartfelt promo. He thanked his fans for supporting him, as he explained his neck injuries. Everyone gave him a well-deserved standing ovation.
Edge soaked in the ovation, as the decorated superstar hung up his boots forever, that too at the peak of his career.
