Over the last 20 years, WWE has pushed the idea that the Shawn Michaels vs. Bret Hart Iron Man match from WrestleMania 12 was one of the greatest matches in company history. It wasn't.

The match was an absolutely tedious affair, which offered no drama until its closing moments. In fact, the match was so uneventful that fans were getting up and leaving while the match was going on.

After a certain amount of time, it became pretty clear that neither man was going to score a fall until the closing minutes, which is one of my biggest problems with Iron Man matches in WWE. They're usually 0-0 until the closing moments, or they'll have the babyface go down 2 or 3 falls to 1, and then have them come back in the final minutes.

This match was far too easy to predict, and the crowd wasn't all that into it. Sure, it ended up being the most memorable match at WrestleMania 12, but aside from The Ultimate Warrior's return, there really wasn't anything memorable about the event aside from Bret vs. Shawn.

Going 60-plus minutes in a WWE ring is certainly something to boast about, but that doesn't mean that Bret vs. Shawn at WrestleMania 12 should be considered as one of the greatest matches of all-time.
