Carmella became the SmackDown Women"s Champion after cashing in her Money in the Bank contract on Charlotte Flair in April this year. Her reign was similar to Jinder Mahal's forgettable reign.
She too was playing the coward heel looking to escape from matches every now and then. Like Mahal, she also lowered the prestige of the belt. In order to get her over with the fans, WWE sacrificed Asuka and Charlotte Flair who were the top stars at the time.
Nobody liked her as a champion because she is not a good in-ring wrestler. Alexa Bliss was the Raw Women's Champion at the same time, which made it even worse for the women's division, because both are coward heels.
