How did Elias forget about this?

Braun Strowman and Elias were involved in a feud throughout the Road to WrestleMania. Braun Strowman eliminated Elias from the 7-men Universal Title #1 Contender match at Elimination Chamber. Braun Strowman stopped Elias from being able to go to WrestleMania (by eliminating him and as a result he was squashed by John Cena in less than 30 seconds at WrestleMania).

Elias attacked Braun Strowman with a fire extinguisher on the Monday Night Raw after that. Braun Strowman then faced Elias in a Symphony of Destruction match. Braun Strowman attacked Elias with both a bass and a piano on that match. While it was rumored that Braun Strowman would team with Elias when he needed a partner at WrestleMania, that didn't happen.

There is no reason that Elias would want to align himself with Braun Strowman (except for a 3-week feud he had with Seth Rollins that wasn't nearly as physical as his feud with Braun Strowman). Braun Strowman humiliated him and literally used what Elias did best (his music) against him.
