This week on SmackDown, after weeks of pressure, Shane McMahon finally gave in and agreed to partner up with The Miz.

The storyline between the two men has now been going on for the best part of two months and has baffled large parts of the WWE Universe.

With most fans originally expecting The Miz to face Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania, this storyline has thrown a curveball into the mix, and fans genuinely don't know what to expect going forward.

There are plenty of ways this storyline could come to a conclusion though, so let's take a look at four of them.

#4: A Championship run as a legitimate team

If there's one thing us WWE fans love being, it's sceptical. The moment that The Miz and Shane McMahon started teaming up on SmackDown Live, we began speculating as to how it was all going to come to an end.

What if, then, the WWE decides to completely pull the wool over our eyes, and have the two run as a legitimate tag-team for a long period of time.

Neither man has a lot else going on right now, and the duo has clearly managed to get over with the crowd. Stranger things have happened in the WWE, and the duo could easily end up becoming the company's next top oddball comedy pairing.

#3: WrestleMania match against AJ Styles and Vince McMahon

Okay, so this one is a bit of a leap, but you can never rule these kinds of things out in the WWE.

The angle on this week's SmackDown, which saw Vince McMahon provoke AJ Styles into attacking him, has puzzled the WWE Universe, and right now, it is extremely difficult to see which way they are going.

One thing that is clear though is that the McMahons believe that they can help boost ratings by being heavily involved in storylines, and if that is the case, then we could see Vince McMahon continue to taunt Styles, acting as the little devil on his shoulder.

Just how we get to this point from where we are now is anybody's guess, but given how involved the McMahons have been in recent weeks, don't rule it out altogether.

#2: The Miz manipulates Shane McMahon

You can never trust The Miz

The Miz is one of the sneakiest and most conniving heels on the entire WWE roster, and it seems highly unlikely that the former WWE Champion would place himself in such a vulnerable position if he didn't have something to gain out of it in the long run.

With there no longer being a General Manager on SmackDown, The Miz could seize on the opportunity this presents him with to manipulate McMahon into booking him a title shot at next year's WrestleMania.

The Miz was totally humiliated by Daniel Bryan at Super Show-Down and has not had much luck inside the ring ever since. Having him become friends with Shane McMahon just to earn himself a spot on the grandest stage of them all would be a clever way to get him back into the title picture, and would also reinforce his role as the smartest heel on the entire WWE roster.

#1: WrestleMania Match

Of course, given the time of year that this storyline is starting to take shape, the most likely outcome here is that the two men will end up having a match against one another at WrestleMania 35.

How we will end up getting there remains to be seen, but The Miz is one of the least trustworthy wrestlers on the entire WWE roster, and this could all have just been an elaborate plan by the former WWE Champion to get revenge on McMahon for stealing his glory at Crown Jewel.

Shane McMahon is almost 100% going to be involved in a match at WrestleMania next year, and looking at the current landscape on Tuesday nights, this is the only one that would really make any sense at the minute.
