The men's MITB winners of the past two years have failed to become champions despite the advantage of the contract. Baron Corbin in 2017 and Braun Strowman last year did not successfully cash in their MITB contracts.

Since its inception in 2005, winning the MITB ladder match guaranteed the holder becoming a world champion, until John Cena became the first person to cash in the contract unsuccessfully in 2012.

Since then there have been three other unsuccessful cash-ins with Damien Sandow, Baron Corbin, and Braun Strowman. With two of these happening in two successful years, it's unlikely the WWE will do another for the third year in a row.

It would completely tarnish the legacy of the MITB contract, and the match would lose its importance altogether. So Lesnar walking out as Champion when he cashes in the contract is inevitable.
