Rumors have been circulating that Dean Ambrose in all likelihood is going to stick with WWE and would be signing an extension very soon with the promotion. The news has come out after months of speculation where even WWE gave out an official statement where they stated that Dean Ambrose would not be signing an extension and was going to leave once his contract expired.

There were reports of Dean's frustration reaching a breaking point and the star not being happy at all with the direction his character had taken for a long time now. But apparently, it does seem like both teams have been able to reach an agreement and Dean will be signing an extension deal with WWE, and in turn, prolong his stay with the company.

For WWE it does mean great news after a long time, as the company has been in a bad shape for a while now with so many wrestlers asking for releases, the ratings being nowhere close to their lofty standards, and more importantly, the threat from AEW becoming more and more potent.

There are many reasons why Dean leaving would have been a body blow for the company, and hence we look at a few reasons why WWE would be happy to re-sign Dean Ambrose.

#1 He's different

The way he talks and the way he carries himself is much different from your typical performer

You look at Dean, you look at his attitude, you look at the way he talks, the way he conducts himself, and then you realize he's just one of a kind. He's not your everyday babyface wrestler, neither is he suited to the role of a cowardly heel. He's an unhinged character who does things his way, he's an original who just doesn't fit the mold, and because of this, he has won over the crowd.

One of the reasons why the heel turn was such a massive failure was because Dean was just not that character at all, and things just didn't seem to make any sense. But then when he was allowed to express himself, Dean many a time was able to leave a lasting impression in his segments. Any promotion would love to have a character like that.

#2 It keeps the Shield intact

It might not seem like a big deal right now but the Shield is arguably the biggest stable in recent times and losing Dean Ambrose would have pretty much meant the end of the group.

If crowd reactions are anything to go by, then this week's Monday Night Raw clearly showed how popular and pivotal the Shield is to WWE and how big a reception the bunch gets whenever the band gets back together.

Many a time WWE has even blatantly used the stable to just force some life into Monday Night Raw and PPVs (for instance Braun Strowman's Money in the Bank cash-in last year). Losing something like that would have been a huge loss as WWE would have been losing the services of one of its homegrown talents.

#3 A mini-victory over AEW

Whether they would like to admit it publicly or not, WWE has been hit by the emergence of AEW. All Elite until now has made all the right noises and has snapped up some good names as well.

They've signed up probably the biggest star and the most wanted guy in wrestling - Kenny Omega, and are slowly building up a roster which could potentially challenge WWE's monopoly in the game.

If WWE loses out on Dean Ambrose, he would be snapped up by AEW and that would be a massive loss for the company. Dean re-signing gives WWE a slight boost which they can use as a motivation to kick on further.

AEW has grown from strength to strength and has proven to be an attractive alternative to WWE, Dean re-signing would surely put WWE back in a positive light.

#4 One of the best in the business

Another reason why WWE would be ecstatic to keep a hold of Dean Ambrose has to be the fact that he's one of the most talented guys out there. His performances in the ring are at a very high level and even with the mic in hand, he's able to set the stage on fire. He is someone who has always been a complete package capable of doing anything and everything.

WWE in its current state sometimes suffers from match quality not being up to lofty standards, and it is in these situations that people like Dean Ambrose turn out to be the most reliable.

We'll very rarely see Dean having a bad match and very rarely will he put in a bad showing. Having reliable workers like him is very crucial for WWE right now, and they would be lucky to not lose out on his services.
