4 reasons why Ember Moon teamed up with Apollo Crews on RAW

This episode of RAW was jam packed with returns of big superstars like John Cena, Hulk Hogan, the WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar, and 'the Monster Among Men' Braun Strowman.

However, we saw 'the Shenom' Ember Moon team up with the super athletic Apollo Crews to take on the runners up of the WWE Mixed Match Challenge II, Jinder Mahal and Alicia Fox.

The team of Apollo Crews and Ember Moon easily defeated team Mahalicia as the WWE Universe got a filler segment on RAW which gave no storyline development. In my opinion, it would have been better to give this TV time to the NXT call-ups who made their debut on WWE Main Event, of all shows!

But not many fans expected this tag team of Apollo Crews and Ember Moon to join forces, and so here are the 4 potential reasons why WWE formed this mixed tag team of Crews and Moon.

#4 To prove that the Mixed Match Challenge was a joke

Lost their match against a random tag team

The second season of the WWE Mixed Match Challenge was one of the most poorly booked WWE tournaments of all time. With the likes of Finn Balor, Braun Strowman, Alexa Bliss, Charlotte, Lashley, and The Miz in the tournament, we saw team Mahalicia fight with team Fabulous Truth in the finale.

It seemed like the WWE was going to push these characters on TV, however week after week the WWE has proven that the Mixed Match Challenge was a joke, and that fact was affirmed once again as we saw the 2nd best team of the tournament lose to a randomly put together tag team on RAW.

#3 To move Ember Moon out of the angle involving Sasha Banks and Bayley

Last week on RAW we saw the team of Sasha Banks, Bayley, and Ember Moon take on the Riott Squad in a six woman tag team match. The fans had developed an impression that the creative were trying to team Ember Moon with Sasha Banks and Bayley.

However, they cleared the dust this week by having Ember team up with Apollo Crews in a mixed tag team match while Sasha Banks and Bayley featured together during Sasha's match.

It is no secret that the WWE wants the Boss 'n' Hug connection to win the Women's Tag Team Championships, and so they do not want the Shenom to be in the same storyline as the duo anymore.

#2 Because the WWE wanted to freshen things up

These mixed tag team matches seem way fresher than having jobbers battle in singles matches every week
These mixed tag team matches seem way fresher than having jobbers battle in singles matches every week

Lets be honest here, everyone loves to see mixed tag team matches in the WWE, irrespective of which wrestlers are battling in the ring. In my opinion, they are way better than the meaningless singles matches which take place between the lower card wrestlers on RAW every week.

To watch this mixed tag team match was way more entertaining than it would have been watching a match between Jinder Mahal and Apollo Crews, or Ember Moon and Alicia Fox.

The McMahons had promised us a fresher product few weeks ago, and if you have noticed closely - the number of meaningless one-on-one matches have reduced by a considerable amount on WWE TV.

Also, it gives TV time to the lower card superstars of both the male and the female division, so to have mixed tag team matches is a good idea actually.

#1 To hint the WWE Universe about the introduction of the mixed tag team championship belts

Will the WWE introduce them soon?
Will the WWE introduce them soon?

The WWE Universe of late has witnessed a lot of mixed tag team matches on RAW and SD Live. In the last few weeks, we have seen Mandy Rose and The Miz vs R Truth and Carmella, John Cena and Becky Lynch vs Andrade Cien Almas and Zelina Vega, and last night we saw Mahalicia vs Crews & Ember Moon.

Though the WWE has not officially made any statement about the introduction of the mixed tag team belts, hardcore WWE fans can sense that this announcement is coming very soon.

Remember the way WWE Creative increased the number of tag teams in the women's division before announcing the women's tag team titles? This is the same way they may introduce the mixed tag team championships.
