4 reasons why Finn Balor will win the Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble PPV

The WWE Universe will finally get what it wants
The WWE Universe will finally get what it wants

This Sunday at the Royal Rumble PPV, WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar will put his title on the line against Finn Balor in what is expected to be the Beast's last match inside a WWE ring.

Finn Balor vs Brock Lesnar is a dream match for many members of the WWE Universe. The McMahons had promised the WWE Universe that the product will be run by the fans now, and this seems to be the first step in that process.

Braun Strowman was earlier scheduled to face Brock Lesnar for the title. However, the fans showed no interest in that feud, so the Monster was replaced by Finn Balor. The Leader of the Balor Club earned this opportunity by defeating John Cena, Drew McIntyre, and Baron Corbin in a fatal-4 way match on RAW.

A lot of fans expect Brock Lesnar to retain the title, but I feel Finn Balor will become the 2nd 2-time Universal Champion in WWE history this Sunday, and here are 4 reasons which support my prediction.

#4 Finn Balor was booked poorly on RAW

If we apply the WWE logic here, Finn is going to win this Sunday
If we apply the WWE logic here, Finn is going to win this Sunday

If you have been watching WWE for a while, you might have observed that the superstar who stands tall on the go-home show to a pay-per-view always fails to win his match on the PPV. This has been WWE's formula of booking feuds for PPVs, and there has been zero change to it over the years.

On the RAW episode before the Royal Rumble, we saw Brock Lesnar demolish his challenger brutally. So if we use the WWE logic here, Finn Balor will stand tall with the Universal Championship in Chase Field at the Royal Rumble PPV.

#3 RAW seriously needs a full-time Universal Champion heading into WrestleMania 35

The ratings of RAW were down because the show's top champion was absent for several weeks
The ratings of RAW were down because the show's top champion was absent for several weeks

The ratings of RAW were at an all-time low in December 2018, and the prime reason for the decline was the constant absence of the show's Universal Champion. The Beast had not showed up on RAW for multiple weeks, and so there was no major storyline on the show, which led to viewers not tuning in.

Whether WWE believes it or not, the presence of the show's premier champion makes a lot of difference, so they must have a full-time champion who appears every week on the road to WrestleMania 35.

When Roman Reigns won the Universal title at SummerSlam 2018, the viewership increased a lot, and WWE needs viewers heading into grandest event of the year. Even WWE seems to have recognized this, thus they will hand over the belt to Finn Balor.

#2 Finn Balor may get lost in the mix if he loses the Universal Championship match

A defeat in the Universal Championship match will push him to the back of the line
A defeat in the Universal Championship match will push him to the back of the line

WWE crowned Finn Balor as their first ever Universal Champion, but he had to relinquish the title because of an unfortunate injury. Finn made his return after nearly 8 months, and was expected to return to the Universal Championship picture immediately, however he never got his rematch, and got lost in the mid-card.

He participated in several meaningless feuds against the likes of Elias, Bray Wyatt, and Baron Corbin, which did no good to any of the superstars. This also decreased the credibility of Finn Balor's character on WWE TV.

However, now he has redeemed himself, and is back in the Universal Championship feud. If he wins the title, he will become the face of RAW, but if he loses he may get demoted once again, something the WWE does not want, given the rise of All Elite Wrestling.

#1 The Demon King is the perfect choice to slay the Beast once and for all

Believe that!
Believe that!

Brock Lesnar has defeated all the top stars on the roster during his 2 Universal Championship reigns, a list which includes the likes of Roman Reigns, Samoa Joe, Braun Strowman, AJ Styles, and Daniel Bryan. All these superstars could have defeated Brock Lesnar in a believable manner, yet the WWE chose to have the Beast go over them.

The rumors are rife that Brock Lesnar will leave WWE and join UFC, so the company must try to write him off TV as soon as possible.

If we look at the superstars which Brock Lesnar has not faced, Finn Balor seems to be the perfect candidate to dethrone him as the Universal Champion, as his Demon King avatar is the most protected character in WWE, perhaps even more protected than Brock Lesnar, thus the Demon King will show up and win the title this Sunday.
