Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle had an outstanding main event rivalry on Smackdown for a large part of 2003.

They battled at two out of the "Big Four" WWE Pay-Per-Views in 2003. "The Next Big Thing" and "The Olympic Gold Medalist" went to war in the main event of WrestleMania XIX and battled at SummerSlam for the WWE Championship.

Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle's final war was a sixty minute Iron Man match for the WWE Championship on the September 18, 2003, edition of Smackdown.

#1 Brock Lesnar vs Kurt Angle — WrestleMania XIX for the WWE Championship

Brock Lesnar won the 2003 Royal Rumble match, earning a WWE Championship opportunity in the main event of WrestleMania XIX."The Next Big Thing" elected to face Kurt Angle at "The Show of Shows" in the main event.

During the buildup to WrestleMania XIX, Kurt Angle broke his neck during a match, which raised a lot of questions if he would be able to perform against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XIX.

Kurt Angle ultimately prevailed through the injury and went on to defend his prestigious WWE Championship against the challenger, Brock Lesnar.

"The Olympic Gold Medalist" went on to wrestle "The Anomaly" in a high-speed match filled with technical brilliance. Brock Lesnar attempted the Shooting Star Press and landed on his forehead, but "The Beast" recovered and nailed a third F5 to end Kurt Angle's WWE Championship reign.

Kurt Angle returned from neck surgery to reclaim the WWE Championship at Vengeance 2003. Shortly after, Brock Lesnar formed an unlikely alliance with Vince McMahon and challenged Kurt Angle to a WWE Championship match at SummerSlam 2003.

In a WrestleMania rematch, "The Olympic Hero" wanted to slay "The Beast" one on one and retain the WWE Championship at any and all costs.

In another great technical wrestling match, Kurt Angle had to escape an F5 and Vince McMahon's interference to defeat Brock Lesnar.

"The Olympic Gold Medalist" took Brock Lesnar to his limit by making "The Beast" submit to the Ankle Lock right in front of Vince McMahon and retain the WWE Championship.

Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle showcased a rivalry in 2003 that is still talked about to this day by WWE fans.

"The Next Big Thing" and "The Olympic Gold Medalist" put on barn-burners each time they graced a ring together.

Both Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle have had storied rivalries and storied careers, but a lot of WWE fans think that "The Beast" and "The Olympic Gold Medalist" brought the best out of each other.
