A wrestler who has worked super hard to reinvent himself and become a crowd favorite, Rusev is one of the few guys who has gotten over with the crowd despite getting limited exposure on the part of the WWE. Remember 'Rusev Day'? The audience fell in love with it and the duo of Aiden English and Rusev was a hit among them.

But then inexplicably the team of Rusev and English was broken and since then Rusev has been turned face, then made the US Champion to promptly lose it on his first defense of the title only to turn heel again and beat up R-Truth.

In between that, during his reign as the US Champion, he hardly featured on live TV and it almost felt out of context why both of them were even fighting for the title. For someone who is such a crowd favorite and repeatedly getting the short end of the stick for a long time now, AEW provides a great alternative, especially looking at the talent that's on offer.
