'The Beast in the Bank' was an unwelcome surprise to many fans.
#3 Kevin Owens

Owens showing up in the main event after losing could have prolonged his feud with Kofi Kingston.
One of the most opportunistic heels in WWE is Kevin Owens. It seems like he would have been a perfect choice to have won any of the MITB ladder matches in which he participated. But since he challenged for the title and wasn't a part of the match this year, it would have made storyline sense for him to show up later in the night in order to take someone else's opportunity.

It might have been better had he done it to Strowman - instead of Sami Zayn - had Strowman still had his opportunity. It could have even been done to someone like Finn Balor since Balor holds the Intercontinental Title. But the fact is that Owens taking advantage of a weakened opponent is something that we could totally have believed he would do.
Owens has proven to be great as a heel or a face. Since he's back to terrorizing the faces of WWE, the briefcase could have done more for him in the future rather than giving it to someone who cares more about the money and less about the company.
