4 surprise returns we could see at WWE Elimination Chamber 2018

Jeff Hardy has been out of action since September

WWE’s road to WrestleMania is always full of twists and turns, with titles often changing hands and Superstars facing a race against time to return for “The Show of Shows”.

This year, with just six weeks remaining before WrestleMania 34, it feels like there are more Superstars than ever waiting to make their on-screen comeback to build a storyline before WWE descends on New Orleans in April.

The final Raw-exclusive pay-per-view before ‘Mania, Elimination Chamber, takes place this Sunday, so let’s take a look at which Superstars could make their much-anticipated returns at the event.

#4 Neville

Needless to say, these predictions are ranked from the least likely to the most likely, which is why Neville features bottom of our list of potential returning Superstars this Sunday.

There’s not a WWE fan around who doesn’t want to see “The King of the Cruiserweights” return to in-ring action, but his potential comeback has been speculated so much since his October 2017 ‘walkout’ that there are doubts if he’ll return at all.

If he does reappear, it will surely be on the road to WrestleMania. The Cruiserweight title tournament has been entertaining enough on 205 Live but, for what must have been the first time since the cruiserweight division was introduced, none of the performers featured on this week’s episode of Raw.

While the division is arguably more entertaining than ever, its title is undoubtedly the least relevant in all of WWE. If the cruiserweights even make it on the Elimination Chamber card, then the surprise return of the Geordie high-flyer would be a huge boost to the entire division.

#3 Nikki Bella

John Cena proposed to Nikki Bella at WrestleMania 33

Aside from her appearance in the first-ever women’s Royal Rumble match, in which she finished second, Nikki Bella has been off WWE television for almost a year and she hasn’t featured in a storyline since teaming with John Cena to defeat The Miz and Maryse at WrestleMania 33.

Nikki is one of WWE’s most popular (and well-known) female Superstars and she will almost certainly appear at WrestleMania 34 in some capacity, but her only scheduled appearance between now and ‘Mania is a live event at MSG in March, where she will team with Cena again to face Elias and Bayley.

Unless she has officially reached ‘free agent’ status, just like her fiancée, then that suggests that Nikki is now a Raw Superstar, meaning she is likely to appear on Monday nights over the next few weeks.

With the first-ever women’s Elimination Chamber match taking place on Sunday, don’t put it past WWE to call upon “The Fearless One” to make some kind of an impact.

#2 The Undertaker

The
The Undertaker delivered a cryptic promo at Raw 25

Whenever a pay-per-view comes around, you can bet there will be a social media video of The Undertaker working out and a sighting of “The Deadman” at an airport somewhere near the PPV venue.

As of the time of writing, we’ve only had the workout video so far (which you can see here) but you can guarantee it won’t be long until another ‘Taker rumour appears and we’re all utterly convinced, just like before the Royal Rumble, that he’ll show up at Elimination Chamber.

Realistically, the only way it’ll happen is to set up a long-awaited WrestleMania match against John Cena, as we outlined in a recent article looking at how Cena might be eliminated from the seven-man Chamber match.

“The Phenom” vs. “The Franchise” is a match everybody wants to see, regardless of what stage of their careers both men are at, and it’s surely only a matter of time before they cross paths and begin to build their ‘Mania match.

#1 Jeff Hardy

Jeff Hardy is expected to return before WrestleMania 34

Jeff Hardy underwent surgery in October 2017 to repair a torn rotator cuff and he told fans at the WrestleMania on-sale party in November that he will be back in time for WrestleMania 34.

With six weeks to go until “The Show of Shows”, Jeff is yet to return to in-ring action, but we think there’s every chance he could soon reappear and get involved in the storyline between “Woken” Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt.

Matt’s character has significantly changed (to say the least!) since Jeff was sidelined and the reunion of the Hardy Boyz will make for must-watch television when “The Charismatic Enigma” returns to find that his brother has been “Woken”.

If Jeff gets involved in Matt’s match with Bray at Elimination Chamber, that would be, to quote "The Woken One", WONDERFUL! YEEEEAAAAASSS!
