4 things WWE got right at Starrcade
#3 Kick-started the rivalry between Randy Orton and AJ Styles
We saw this rivalry shape up on Monday Night RAW, as Randy Orton was one of the four men who stood up to AJ Styles and The O.C., demanding a shot at the United States Championship.
During the Fatal 4-way match between Rey Mysterio, Ricochet, Orton, and Drew McIntyre, The Viper seemed to have gained the upper hand after delivering an RKO to McIntyre before he was attacked by The O.C. to prevent him from becoming the #1 contender.
Later on, when Mysterio squared off against Styles, Orton emerged to exact revenge the very same night and cost Styles his championship.
At Starrcade, the company did the right thing by kickstarting their feud and giving them a match in front of a good crowd. This will allow both men to get comfortable, as this time it seems like Styles will be playing the heel while Orton will be the babyface.
Even though it would have been more interesting to watch them feud over the United States Championship, we’re sure this is still much more than we could have bargained for. It will be interesting to see where the company takes this rivalry on the next episode of RAW.Published 02 Dec 2019, 13:18 IST
