Heading into 2025, WWE is getting closer to WrestleMania 41, which is set to take place in Las Vegas on April 19-20. It is unclear what the match card will be yet, but we can expect megastars like Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, and Rhea Ripley to be in action at The Grandest Stage of Them All.
Many of the top active WWE stars have main-evented 'Mania before, but there are also several others who haven't had that opportunity in their careers so far. With that in mind, we take a look at five active WWE stars who have never headlined The Show of Shows in their career.
#5. Rey Mysterio would love to main event The Showcase of The Immortals before retirement
Rey Mysterio has accomplished nearly everything in his illustrious career. A Grand Slam champion, he has won the top titles in WWE and also entered the Hall of Fame in 2023.
One thing that he hasn't accomplished, though, is to main-event WrestleMania. He has a lot of great moments at The Grandest Stage of Them All, like defeating Randy Orton and Kurt Angle in 2006 to become the World Heavyweight Champion.
However, none of his WrestleMania matches have main-evented The Showcase of The Immortals and the star would be hopeful he could do it once before retiring.
#4. Bayley has never been in the main event of 'Mania
The former WWE Women's Champion has emerged as one of the top stars in WWE. The Role Model has won multiple titles in her career, while she was the first female wrestler to become both a Triple Crown and a Grand Slam Champion.
Like Rey Mysterio, she has not main-evented the premium live event so far. As one of the top stars on SmackDown, she could do so this year if she re-enters the WWE Women's Championship picture.
#3. Braun Strowman never had a singles match at Mania
The former Universal Champion has had his ups and downs in his WWE career so far but remains a force to be reckoned with. Thus far, at WrestleMania, he has competed only in tag team matches or a Battle Royal.
Back in 2020, in an interview with Sports Illustrated, he shared his intention to main event WrestleMania before retiring from WWE.
"Having a singles match on the main card, that’s been a personal goal of mine since I started with WWE. One day, I can see myself main-eventing WrestleMania. I feel like I have the star power and the fan base behind me that wants to see it, but I just need to find the right opponent," Braun Strowman said. [H/T - Fightful]
It remains unclear if WWE has any plans for The Monster Among Men to be part of the match card for The Grandest Stage of Them All this year.
#2. Finn Balor has competed at The Show of Shows only 3 times
Finn Balor is preparing for his first title match in singles competition in a very long time when he takes on the reigning World Heavyweight Champion Gunther at Saturday Night's Main Event.
The leader of The Judgment Day will look to claim the title and add to his resume, which is quite impressive already but is still lacking a main event bout at WrestleMania.
The RAW Tag Team Champion has won once in his three matches at 'Mania, and this year's event could see him face his former friend Damian Priest. Fans need to wait and see if the title may be involved in case these two meet at WrestleMania.
#1. CM Punk could main event WrestleMania 41
The WWE megastar returned to the company a year ago and was seemingly in line to main event the show in April this year. A torn triceps sidelined him for months, though, and The Best in the World is hopeful this will happen this year.
CM Punk has participated in seven straight WrestleManias (23-29) without main eventing the show once. This year, the expectation among his fans is that he will take on Seth Rollins in a blockbuster match, with the World Heavyweight Championship likely being on the line at The Showcase of The Immortals.
