5 best matches of Shane McMahon

The Man Who Gravity Forgot?
Shane McMahon with an incredible high-risk move

Shane McMahon, the current Smackdown Commissioner, and a man dubbed 'to fear nothing', has been wrestling for the last 20 years now. He is a minority owner of the WWE and has been involved in backstage duties for several years now.

However, his passion and dedication to the industry is unparalleled, as he has featured in several high-intensity matches over the years, proving to be a quality superstar in WWE.

He is one of the most talented 'part-time' wrestlers in the WWE and has produced quality matches from time to time.

In this list, we look at five of the best matches Shane has given in WWE.

#5 Shawn Michaels vs Shane McMahon - Saturday Night Main Event 2006

That Killed Him!

Shawn Michaels' troubling conflicts with the Authority were a significant storyline in WWE during Wrestlemania season in 2006, and ahead of his match against Vince McMahon, HBK faced off against Shane in a brutal encounter at this special event. What followed was an entertaining battle between two quality performers trying to destroy each other.

Michaels was scheduled to face Vince in a street fight at Wrestlemania 23, and that match is also in a long list of fantastic matches by HBK. This match saw crazy bumps taken by both the wrestlers resulting in a gruesome fight between the two superstars.

Shane was superplexed off a ladder into two tables, which is still one of the most iconic spots Shane has featured in. Shane and Vince conspired against Michaels, resulting in Shane gaining a victory against "The Heartbreak Kid".

#4 Shane McMahon vs Kane - Unforgiven 2003

Shane doesn't fear anyone not even the Big Red Machine

Shane and Kane had battled in WWE before this encounter, and they had produced decent, if not excellent, matches earlier. Kane was forced to unmask after losing against Triple H and was settling into his new look and persona.

Kane had become unstable during this period, was attacking people, and Linda McMahon became a victim of his rage.

Shane McMahon had to return to his mother's rescue, which led to a match between "The Big Red Machine" and McMahon at Unforgiven. Shane's over the top antics had become a part of his character now and thus the stipulation of this match, a Last Man Standing Match, was hardly surprising.

The two superstars produced a quality match from start to finish, with Shane taking an insane bump onto the announce table, resulting in Kane picking up the win.

#3: Shane McMahon vs Test - Summerslam 1999

Shane is A GOOD BROTHER

Shane was not a big name back in 1999 and hadn't shaken the world with his crazy performances back then. This match was the start of his jump to become a legitimate talent in WWE. Shane and Test faced off in a 'Love Her or Leave Her Street Fight,' with Test trying to win Stephanie's love and Shane playing the part of a caring big brother.

This match introduced us to the trademark flying elbow of Shane McMahon, which is still a beautiful sight to watch after all these years. Shane and Test had a brutal street fight, with a classic Attitude Era vibe to the match.

Test fought off Shane and his Mean Street Posse mates, winning the match. Test also earned the right to date, Stephanie McMahon, in a classic storytelling device from WWE. Shane became a major talking point after this match and his crazy persona became more recognised by the fanbase.

#2 AJ Styles vs Shane McMahon - Wrestlemania 33

Phenomenal Match Indeed.

Shane McMahon's last singles encounter was against arguably one of the best wrestlers in WWE today, AJ Styles. Shane and AJ had a fierce rivalry leading to this match, and the final battle between these two was a massive surprise for the fans. It was the first match on the Wrestlemania main card and probably the best match of the night.

Shane and AJ both had lacklustre encounters at Wrestlemania 32, with Styles looking to make a mark for himself on the "Grandest Stage of Them All". The decision to have a wrestler in his prime in the form of Styles, facing off against a part-timer McMahon, was a frustrating choice, but the result trumped everything.

Shane proved that even at the age of 47, he could still go in the ring. He also performed a beautiful looking Shooting Star Press which was dodged by Styles. Styles benefited from being in a quality program with Shane, and his face turn on the following Smackdown was a welcome sight.

#1 Kurt Angle vs Shane McMahon - King of the Ring 2001

Suplex through the glass!

Kurt Angle, an Olympic gold medalist, facing off against Shane McMahon, produced one of the best pieces of sports entertainment in WWE history. Shane was light years behind Angle when it came to wrestling ability, but the junior McMahon still went toe-to-toe against one of the greatest Superstars to step in the ring.

Kurt Angle is no stranger to performing on the big stage, and this match proves precisely why. Shane and Kurt both took insane bumps throughout this street fight.

The greatness of this street fight can still be seen on social media, as clips of both the superstars in some crazy spots throughout the match are still shared regularly.

This match solidified Shane McMahon's gutsy attitude and ability to give a match of the highest quality.
