NXT features the next generation of Superstars fighting to make an impact

What started as a developmental territory has now become a full-fledged entity. NXT houses some of the best talents in WWE and serves as the third brand, complementing both Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live.

NXT started out in Orlando, Florida, but because of its superior wrestling quality and captivating storylines, its reach has expanded to all of USA and even internationally.

Fans have never shied away from showing their support for NXT, and the show keeps on producing extraordinary performers on a regular basis.

Here are five of the best wrestlers in NXT today.

Honorable Mentions: Ricochet, EC3, Tommaso Ciampa, Candice LeRae, Bianca Belair, and War Raiders are all exceptional in-ring performers, but it is a little too soon to judge their performances.

#5 Lars Sullivan

The mesomorphic Superstar
The mesomorphic Superstar

At just 28 years of age, Lars Sullivan might be the next big thing in WWE. Making his NXT debut in 2017, Sullivan has had phenomenal matches with the likes of Kassius Ohno and Killian Dane.

One of the few big men with superior athleticism and agility, Lars Sullivan is yet to be pinned in a 1-on-1 match. The mesomorphic Superstar is underrated for his work on the microphone and possesses a terrifying look, great expressions, and loads of charisma.

With age to his advantage, there's no doubt that Sullivan is the future of WWE, and we might see him on the main roster pretty soon.

#4 Velveteen Dream

The Vainglorious One
The Vainglorious One

Perhaps the most bizarre character in WWE today, Velveteen Dream oozes unbridled flamboyancy right from the beginning and is a ruthless competitor inside the squared circle. Starting his career with Tough Enough, Velveteen was hand-picked by WWE, and it wasn't until May of last year that creative realised his true potential.

Velveteen is just not a mysterious persona, but one of the hardest working performers in NXT at present. His feud with Aleister Black exceeded all expectations, and the two put on an amazing match at TakeOver: WarGames. He did lose the match, but was victorious in his quest, as Black acknowledged his effort post-match.

One of the cockiest and egoistic heels currently, Velveteen Dream's ability to tell a story during a match is second to none. At just 22 years old, Dream certainly has a bright future in WWE, and with him being one of the homegrown talents, there's no doubt about Dream being a future star of the company.

"Enjoy infamy, Velveteen Dream."

#3 Aleister Black

The Ominous Man from Amsterdam
The Ominous Man from Amsterdam

Aleister Black won the NXT Championship at Takeover: New Orleans and proved why he is the hottest prospect of WWE. A 15-year veteran of the wrestling business, Black's debut in NXT received a thunderous ovation from the WWE Universe, and he has never looked back since.

2017 in NXT was the year of Aleister Black as "The Dutch Destroyer" had noteworthy feuds against Hideo Itami and Velveteen Dream. Arguably wrestling the best NXT matches throughout the year, he has quickly become one of the top babyfaces of the brand.

A deserved recipient of the NXT Title, Black is incredibly talented both in the ring and on the microphone. One of the unique personas in WWE today, Black is an unassumingly diverse and invariably thrilling performer, and his rule as the poster boy of NXT shouldn't be ending anytime soon.

#2 The Undisputed Era

Shock the System.
Shock the System

Forget SAnitY or The New Day; there is no better stable in WWE today than Undisputed Era. Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O'Reilly, and the newest member Roderick Strong have all quickly transitioned to the world of NXT and are ruling the brand with three out of the possible four titles under their belts.

Each member of the faction brings in a unique characteristic - Strong and Fish's excellent athletic abilities, Reilly's unparalleled charisma, and Cole's mic work and in-ring psychology make a deadly combination.

With the NXT Tag-team and North American Championships to their name, the faction is stronger than ever and will surely dominate NXT for quite a long time.

#1 Johnny Gargano

Johnny Wrestling

Johnny Gargano is unarguably the most likable wrestler in WWE today. Starting his career as the part of #DIY, which in itself was one of the most over tag teams in NXT history, Gargano quickly transcended into a singles competitor and went on to have two five-star matches against Andrade "Cien" Almas and Tommaso Ciampa.

From sublime in-ring skills to selling ability and perfectly-timed comebacks, Gargano has had a wonderful 2017 and 2018 with a distinguished feud with his former tag-team partner, Tommaso Ciampa.

There is no better pure babyface than Johnny Gargano in WWE at the moment. The Rebel Heart should soon be on his way to the main roster and, if WWE continues to book his expertly-crafted story the way they have done until now, Gargano will be one of the main crowd attractions of the company.
