The infamous botch

This is one of the famous botches in the WWE. At Royal Rumble 2005, Batista was initially planned to win the match by eliminating Cena and later defeat Triple H for the World Title at that Wrestlemania. However, things got messed up when both Cena and Batista simultaneously won the battle royal. They weren’t supposed to do this but it happened and indeed shocked everybody in the arena.

Things became more complicated when Raw’s referee said that Batista won the match whereas SmackDown’s referee said that Cena won it. Things were getting out of control and then Vince McMahon came to the ring.

However, another botch happened when Vince injured himself while entering the ring but at least he restarted the match with the final two competitors. This time things happened as they were planned and Batista eliminated Cena from the match.
