Pat Patterson, also known as Vince McMahon’s right hand, surprised the fans when he defeated Drake Maverick for the 24/7 Championship during the RAW Reunion episode. Patterson won the title when The Boogeyman terrified Maverick. The 78 year old seized his opportunity and pinned Maverick to become the oldest champion in WWE history.

Patterson initially set this record nineteen years ago, when he won the Hardcore Championship at the age of 59. It took him almost two decades to break a record of his own and since most wrestlers usually retire in their 40s and 50s, this record may never be broken again.

The best thing about the 24/7 Championship is that it can be defended anytime and anywhere. We have already seen Jinder Mahal win the 24/7 Title at a golf course and Drake Maverick lose it in a hotel room during his honeymoon.

The RAW Reunion saw the return of several legends and WWE Hall of Famers. The 24/7 Championship didn’t only allow mid-card talents to show up more frequently on RAW and SmackDown, it also served as a ‘tool’ to use the returning legends on the RAW reunion episode.

The title changed hands a total of 9 times and that’s a record. The show started with R-Truth as 24/7 Champion before Drake Maverick pinned him. Then Maverick lost the title to Pat Patterson, who in turn lost it to Gerald Brisco. Afterward, Kelly Kelly, Candice Michelle, Alundra Blayze, and Ted DiBiase all won the title before Maverick recaptured it before finally losing it back to Truth.
