Rusev won the 5-man gauntlet match to become the Number 1 contender for AJ Styles' WWE Championship. The victory was very well received by the WWE Universe who was eagerly waiting for Rusev to get pushed as a main-event superstar.
Given the momentum, both babyfaces currently enjoy, it is hard to predict as to who will come out on top. AJ Styles has been killing it as the champion and has defeated the likes of Shinsuke Nakamura and John Cena a plethora of times to retain the gold.
Rusev, on the other hand, might be the most "over" performer on SmackDown Live today, but nobody comes close to the fan support that "The Phenomenal One" possesses.
