5 bold predictions for NXT Takeover: Philadelphia

NXT Takeover has the potential to steal the weekend
NXT Takeover has the potential to steal the weekend

The NXT roster is set to take over the Wells Fargo Center on Saturday night, less than 24 hours before WWE's main roster present the Royal Rumble. Once again it seems that Triple H's developmental brand has been able to put together a fantastic show that has the potential to steal the weekend.

The show itself is NXT's final Takeover show ahead of WrestleMania weekend, so there could be some hints when it comes to storylines heading into the biggest Takeover of the year in New Orleans.

So far there are five matches that have been announced for the Takeover card and it seems that each match has the potential to finish under controversial circumstances. Keeping that in mind, here are five bold predictions for the show.

#5 The return of Kairi Sane

Shayna attacked Kairi a few weeks ago
Shayna attacked Kairi a few weeks ago

Shayna Baszler has bullied her way through the Women's Division over the past few weeks and even though General Manager William Regal told the former MMA fighter that she wasn't going to get a Women's Championship shot by using her underhanded tactics, she was still able to get under the Champion's skin so much that she decided to put her title on the line against the submission specialist on Saturday night.

One of the women that Shayna brushed aside enroute to this match was the woman who defeated her in the final match of the Mae Young Classic last year, Kairi Sane. It seems that it's too soon for Baszler to become Champion after all the hard work Ember Moon put in to be in that position, so a disqualification finish and the return of Kairi Sane could be the best option when it comes to the end of this match.

#4 Velveteen Dream will defeat Kassius Ohno

This could be set to be a fantastic match
This is set to be a fantastic match

There aren't many people on the NXT roster who are hotter than Velveteen Dream right now. Even though he lost his last two matches, it seems that he is still someone that the company has a lot of plans for, in the future.

Kassius Ohno has been relegated to being talent enhancement for a good few months now but that doesn't mean that this won't be an absolutely incredible match because both men have the potential to bring the crowd to their feet. Hopefully, this will lead to a feud between the two men that could last a good few weeks, because Kassius could be a great person for Velveteen to learn from.

#3 Aleister Black will extract revenge on Adam Cole

This isn't the first time Black and Cole have faced off
This isn't the first time Black and Cole have faced off

Depending on which match goes first on Saturday night, it seems that either Adam Cole will help Fish and O'Reilly or they will help him in his Extreme Rules match. It is thought that the numbers game will work for a while until the trio realise that they have a lot more enemies than they were originally aware of.

Black has only been pinned on NXT once in his career and that was thanks to The Undisputed Era, who not only cost him the match but also the chance to fight for the NXT Championship, which means that he is a man who wants revenge. There is a reason the rules have been taken away in this match; expect a lot of interference, but Black will probably get back to his usual winning ways.

#2 SAnitY will invade the Tag Team Championship match

Sanity and The Undisputed Era have already gone through war
Sanity and The Undisputed Era have already gone through war

The Authors of Pain have been rumoured to be heading up to the main roster for a number of weeks and it seems that this could be their final Takeover show. This means that it's highly unlikely that the duo will be winning the titles from The Undisputed Era who have been pushed to the top of the brand ever since they made their debut.

The only other stars who have an issue with The Undisputed Era are SAnitY, who could easily get involved in both this match and Adam Cole's Extreme Rules match with Aleister Black later in the night. SAnitY were taken out by Fish, Cole and O'Reilly a few weeks ago, so this would be the perfect time for them to return and ignite a feud that will last until Takeover: New Orleans.

#1 Johnny Gargano will become NXT Champion

Will Johnny finally strike gold on Saturday night?
Will Johnny finally strike gold on Saturday night?

It seems highly unlikely, given the rumours that Tommaso Ciampa could be set to finally make a return and cost his friend the title, but technically it should be Gargano going after Ciampa not the other way around since Ciampa attacked him at Takeover: Chicago last year.

Gargano has been pushed to the top of the brand over the past few weeks and he has proved that he is capable of hanging with the likes of Andrade 'Cien' Almas. Gargano has also already been defeated by the Champion twice so he knows the threat that Zelina Vega is, at ringside, so it would be fantastic if Gargano decides to bring his wife with him to even the odds.

Even though many think that Almas will retain, a disqualification ending seems a little bit too much considering the number of run-ins that could happen on Saturday night. Gargano and Ciampa's feud deserves to be over the NXT Championship anyway.
