The 2018 Backlash pay-per-view has the potential to be a memorable night of wrestling

The first official pay-per-view after a jammed packed edition of Wrestlemania is Backlash and this a pay-per-view which would consist of both Raw and Smackdown Live superstars.

WWE has marketed this show as a conclusion to many of the rivalries wrestling fans have witnessed over the course of last year.

Therefore, that would mean new storylines, feuds, and superstars would emerge after this event.

From Wrestlemania rematches to a trilogy of dream matches, Backlash 2018 has the potential to conclude many of the company's narratives in white hot fashion and pave the way for a different landscape on both Raw and Smackdown Love.

However, while WWE is going to try and produce a grand pay-per-view that would satisfy fans expectations, they must not make mistakes which might affect certain superstars momentum and the credibility of their title reigns.

#1 Big Cass eats defeat

WWE should not end this push before its even begun

While a majority of the WWE Universe hate the idea of Big Cass being Daniel Bryan's first opponent in the second run of his WWE career, it is an intelligent move on WWE’s part to pair the seven-foot giant with an established megastar like Bryan.

However, matching another 'Vince McMahon project' with Bryan might pose more negatives to Cass than positives, as many feel the big man does not have the skills to hang with the main event stars just yet.

Therefore, even with all the criticism, Cass may get WWE cannot have his budding young career go the wrong route like former rising Smackdown Live star Baron Corbin who was ruined by lousy booking decisions.

Whether Cass defeats Bryan or the match ends in a disqualification, WWE needs to protect him on a night where his career essentially begins.

#2 Owens and Zayn losing streak continues

Owens and Zayn cannot lose any more credibility

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn may have received the loudest reaction this week's edition of Monday Night Raw, but those thunderous ovations mean nothing when the former NXT Champions are losing on a consistent basis.

Ever since 2018 began, Owens and Zayn have lost at every pay-per-view they have competed in, and after they had been drafted to Raw, they are still beaten continuously by superstars such as Barun Strowman, Bobby Lashley on a weekly basis.

Therefore, at Backlash 2018 WWE cant book Zayn and Owens to lose another match against Strowman and Lashley, as that would immediately destroy any credibility they have left.

WWE has to protect their future top heels on Raw and by having them continuously fail they weaken the quality of the Raw roster.

#3 Nakamura comes out of the event empty-handed

It is Nakamura's time to reign as the number one star in the company.

Ever since WrestleMania 34, Shinsuke Nakamura has been booked like a new man. From distinct entrance music to a brand new attitude, The Artist has rejuvenated his entire WWE career with a straightforward heel turn.

Therefore, if Nakamura leaves Backlash with having achieved nothing, then that is the most significant low blow of his WWE main roster run.

Nakamura has proven himself as a different superstar in a sea of generic babyfaces and heels, as his in-ring work has gotten more brutal, his promos have gotten more arrogant, and his behaviour has gotten more bizarre.

While AJ Styles is possibly the best champion in WWE today, the company cannot let Nakamura walk away from Backlash 2018 as the biggest loser of the night.

#4 Alexa Bliss reclaims the Raw Women's Championship

Jax needs to retain her title convincingly

However, at Backlash 2018 " little miss bliss" needs to lose to Nia Jax once again, as Jax is the future of the Raw women's division.

Jax is billed as the most dangerous competitor in the entire women’s division, and not many can argue that claim, as her in-ring capabilities and ability to heighten her intensity in any feud is what the Raw Women's Title needs at the moment.

Alexa Bliss’ "moment of bliss" segment is one the best things to look forward to on Raw each week as her false portrayal of a bullied victim paints her as one of the most detested heels in the company.

Therefore, Jax is the superstar that can lead the Raw women’s division to success at the moment as matches with the likes of Ronda Rousey, Ember Moon, and Sasha Banks can all elevate the quality of the division to heights never seen before.

#5 Matches end in controversy

A trick WWE has performed too many times this year

The main criticism of many of the most recent WWE matches is that the booking has been terrible, and the primary source of anger from the fans stems from the way WWE has been booking conclusions to many of their most prominent matches.

As the Greatest Royal Rumble event, wrestling fans observed too many 'screwy finishes' on one show, as the Brock Lesnar-Roman Reigns saga continued disappointingly and Nakamura-Styles fought to a double count out. Backlash is the beginning of the end of many fueds, and WWE’s controversial finishes can ruin most of the matches on the card.

Therefore, on a night where superstars need to reign, feuds need to end and title’s need to change hands, WWE could achieve all that by just avoiding to book a disappointing finish to any of the marquee matches on the card.
