5 booking options for Brock Lesnar as WWE Universal Champion

So, what next for The Beast Incarnate?

WrestleMania 33 is done and dusted, and now it is time for us to look to the future and what it holds for the WWE roster. First on that list is The Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar.

Lesnar finally broke his hoodoo against Goldberg on The Grandest Stage of Them All as he bested his opponent in a surprisingly entertaining match. He not only became the first man to kick out of the Jackhammer, but he also became the new WWE Universal Champion.

Now that the feud which ran all the way since Survivor Series is done and dusted, how does Lesnar move forward? Obviously, he is going to be in the main event picture considering he is the Universal Champion, but there are a number of different ways to book him going forward.

So, without any further ado, here are 5 booking options for Brock Lesnar as WWE Universal Champion:

#5) Roman Reigns

Not again

The one matchup that nobody wants to see but the one which we are probably going to get. Brock Lesnar’s advocate Paul Heyman made it a point to mention Roman Reigns and tease a potential clash between the only two men to have ever defeated The Undertaker at WrestleMania.

Reigns vs. Lesnar is something we have seen before, and the only reason their WWE Championship match at WrestleMania 31 didn’t leave a sour taste in everyone’s mouth was because Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank contract to pull off “The Heist of the Century.”

The problem is that they don’t have that get out of jail free card this time around. With Roman being Public Enemy Number 1 after retiring The Undertaker, it would be foolish to put him against Lesnar and then have him go over The Beast.

At the same time, it isn’t best for business if a part timer holds on to the belt for too long either. If the WWE picks this booking option, you can be assured that the fans will not be happy.

#4) Braun Strowman

The two have come face to face before

The seeds for this one were planted this past episode of Monday Night Raw when Braun Strowman confronted Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman in the ring following Heyman’s calling out of Roman Reigns.

Strowman insisted that he would take out Reigns and then go after the WWE Universal Championship. The reality might well be that he will lose to The Big Dog once again, though.

However, this matchup has more potential than Reigns vs. Lesnar as Strowman is someone who can go toe to toe with the power of Lesnar but is held in higher regard by the WWE Universe when compared to Reigns.

Also, he deserves a title shot after the atrocious booking of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

#3) Finn Balor

Finn deserves to be back in the main event picture

Finn Balor deserves to be back in the WWE Universal Championship picture now that he has finally returned from injury. It makes perfect sense considering the fact that he never actually lost the belt and was forced to vacate it due to the injury he suffered at the hands of Seth Rollins.

Balor vs. Brock Lesnar is an intriguing match up and a hell of a lot more intriguing than it would be to see Reigns vs. Lesnar. This would have a proper face vs heel dynamic, and it has real potential if booked correctly.

The problem with this feud, though, is that Balor is a much smaller guy when compared to Brock, and it is unlikely that Vince will let a man of the Irishman's size go over The Beast and regain his Universal Championship.

#2) Samoa Joe

Samoa Joe vs Brock Lesnar would be a clash of two behemoths

Samoa Joe has looked every bit the dominating powerhouse that he is since his debut on Monday Night Raw. The problem now is that he is left without a major feud to truly cement his place in the company.

That major feud should be Brock Lesnar with the WWE Universal Championship at stake. There is no doubt in my mind that Joe will be able to hang with Brock Lesnar as he has a very similar style to The Beast Incarnate.

It would be a treat to see The Samoan Submission Machine take on Lesnar and it would firmly establish him – and by extension the rumoured New Evolution faction he is going to be in – as a force to be reckoned with in the company.

#1) AJ Styles

AJ and Brock can tear the house down with their matches

There are strong rumours that AJ Styles is on his way to Monday Night Raw next week during the “Superstar Shakeup” that Vince McMahon promised. There is no doubt that AJ deserves to be in the main event picture following his stellar showing with Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 33.

Putting two and two together, we get AJ Styles taking part in the main event scene of Monday Night Raw against the WWE Universal Champion, Brock Lesnar. The two former IWGP World Heavyweight Champions are sure to put on a show for the ages.

It would also present the opportunity for Styles to turn babyface - which he should since everyone cheers the guy no matter what he does. Styles vs. Lesnar is the perfect feud for the WWE Universal Championship going forward.

Will we get it? I'll be keeping my finger's crossed.
