There is no denying that The New Day is currently the most decorated stable in the WWE today, as they are competing on the SmackDown brand. However, the rumours that are currently going around in the wrestling world is the fact that Vince McMahon is looking to make some changes for the faction of three.

Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods & Big E have been very useful in the Tag Team division, whether it's to win tag team titles or put over other tag teams that have needed the extra boost. They remain to be entertaining, and they constantly receive positive reactions from the WWE Universe.

However, sometimes The New Day's fun gimmick can get very boring and stale despite the fact that they try to be as enthusiastic as possible. They are in need of a change that can keep them fresh, so here are 5 possible changes that WWE could possibly make to The New Day.

#5 A possible heel turn

Funnily enough, The New Day actually started off as happy-go-lucky faces who wanted to deliver the power of positivity to the WWE Universe. However, their gimmick was receiving negative reactions from the fans as they would go onto chant "New Day Sucks!" during their matches in response to The New Day's trademark chant "New Day Rocks!"

On April 6th, 2015, we saw The New Day face The Lucha Dragons in a match where Kofi had attempted to deliver a cheap-shot to The Lucha Dragons despite not actually being involved in the match-turning them heel in the process. This lead to The New Day going onto compete for the WWE Tag Team Championships at Extreme Rules 2015, where they defeated Cesaro & Tyson Kidd to gain the titles for the first ever time as a trio.

As their title reign went on, we then saw The New Day gradually turn babyface again as the fans would be intrigued and amazed by their fantastic show of character due to their personalities. The New Day have already proven that they can be viable heels, and it's clear that a heel turn could do wonders for them.

This isn't the first time that we witnessed The New Day as heels, as when they first formed a stable in the WWE- we briefly saw them appear as more serious characters in suits with intentions to stop kissing babies and shaking hands. The three men seemed more intellectual as characters but this was before they turned very captivating.

However, The New Day is one of the highest merchandise sellers in the WWE due to the unique aspects of their merchandise such as pancakes and Booty-O's. This makes it highly unlikely that The New Day will turn heel, but it's something that can't be ruled out if Vince McMahon is definitely planning to make changes.

#4 Splitting them up

The trio could potentially be split up.
The trio could potentially be split up.

Another option which seems to be on the horizon for The New Day is that the trio may even be disbanded.

The New Day has done it all as a trio, as they have held five WWE Tag Team Champions in total in the WWE. They are even the longest reigning WWE Tag Team Champions in the WWE today, which is definitely a historic feat for the trio to have. So don't be surprised if Vince McMahon decides to send Kofi, Big E & Woods in their separate ways.

As we've seen before with stables like The Shield & Evolution, WWE loves to split stables up in an attempt to create success for their superstars as individuals. There are so many directions that you could go in with a heel turn for either Big E or Kofi Kingston. A heel turn could be suggested for Woods, but he is definitely someone who thrives better as a face character.

With Big E being posed to be the break-out star of The New Day, having him turn to the dark side and absolutely demolish the Smackdown roster would be an excellent storyline to see. We have seen a heel Big E before, from when he was aligned with Dolph Ziggler & AJ Lee in late 2012 and early 2013.

But the truth is, the three men seem to be better off with each other than without, as if you did split them up, there's a huge risk of them being lost in the shuffle. The fact that there are so many superstars on both the Raw and Smackdown rosters that are talented, but struggle to find a certain spot on television makes you pose the question of whether The New Day would even thrive if they weren't together anymore.

#3 Adding a fourth member

The Boss would make an excellent addition to The New Day.

Due to The New Day being a successful trio in the WWE, one way that Vinnie Mac could attempt to transform them into something bigger could be by adding a fourth member.

There are so many different options of superstars that could be added to The New Day. If R-Truth was to ever split up with Carmella as a duo, he would make a fantastic addition to The New Day- but he most likely wouldn't even need it as he is nearing the end to his career, however, there is no doubt that when Truth matches the members of The New Day which it comes to charisma.

Adding a superstar from NXT might also work for The New Day, as you could potentially call-up The Street Profits and either Angelo Dawkins or Montez Ford, even both, and add them to The New Day due to the fact that they are young superstars on the rise.

The Street Profits are full of personality and they are a very bubbly tag team, but the risk of too many members being in one stable might definitely be overkill.

On the other hand, you could even potentially add a woman to the stable, to compete for the Smackdown Women's Championship. Big E has previously stated that if there was ever to be a female member to The New Day, then he would choose Sasha Banks.

Of course, in order for that to happen,- Sasha Banks would have to be drafted to Smackdown, which doesn't seem possible due to her current tag team with Bayley, and the fact that WWE is introducing WWE Women's Tag Team Championship belts.

#2 A more serious New Day

Could an edgy character work for the stable?
Could an edgy character work for the stable?

Maybe all that is needed for The New Day is serious character development, without even needing to turn them heel.

You could have The New Day continue to be enthusiastic as possible- but you could implement an edgier approach for this stable. We have seen shades of The New Day being edgy during their great feud with The Usos, where we saw a side of the trio that we hadn't ever seen before with their aggression and fire.

We saw The Shield run havoc in the WWE as babyfaces, and there is no doubt that The Hounds of Justice were known as three badass superstars who had no remorse for destroying everything in their way. Kofi Kingston has proved that he could be a badass, back when he was involved in a rivalry with Randy Orton- as we saw Kofi smash Orton's NASCAR on the 26th October 2009 episode of Raw.

You could also say the same for Big E, who dominated NXT with his "I got Five" gimmick- as he obliterated superstars by being the NXT Champion who put his opponents down for a five count instead of a three. We haven't seen many shades of aggression from Xavier Woods before, but there is no denying that Woods could adapt to a more aggressive role with the help of his partners.

#1 Pitting The New Day in different divisions

Kofi Kingston has never been a world champion before.

Last but definitely not least, you could put The New Day into different divisions whilst keeping them as a trio. We've seen it done before with The Shield, as we saw Roman Reigns challenge for the WWE Championship whilst Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins competed for the Raw Tag Team Champions along with the Intercontinental Championship as well.

You could easily put Kofi Kingston into the main event scene as there is no doubt that Kofi deserves it due to his loyalty to the WWE, and the fact that he has won every single WWE title that there is to win, apart from a major world title. Big E would also be another option to insert into the main event picture, but it would be better to give Kofi that opportunity as there is still plenty of time for Big E to grow and develop as a superstar by challenging for the United States Championship- a title that Big E has also yet to win.

Inserting Xavier Woods into the Cruiserweight division could be another option, as there is no doubt that Woods could definitely compete on 205 Live as he weighs in at exactly 205lb. He has the personality and charisma to make a name for himself as a Cruiserweight Champion, and there are so many superstars that Woods could go toe to toe with such as Drew Gulak, Buddy Murphy, TJP, etc.

We have seen The New Day run the tag team division for so long, that the idea of them being involved in the tag team division again doesn't seem appealing anymore. Simply having them change their goals, and go for the singles titles would definitely be the best way to go as you wouldn't even need to split the trio up at all.
