5 Current NXT Stars That Are Already Main Roster Ready

NXT
NXT

Despite the label of 'developmental', many believe that NXT is the best program the WWE has to offer, but no matter what, everyone's goal down there is to reach RAW or Smackdown Live, and ultimately, the WrestleMania pinnacle. For some, that's obviously going to happen. Others have to continue working on their game if they wish to get over on the biggest stages in the WWE, and today, we are going to look at one side of that.

So without further ado, read along as we take a look to the brilliant NXT brand, and analyse 5 performers that we think are ready for the main roster already (even if they aren't going to be promoted in the immediate future).

#5 Matt Riddle

The King of Bros has been one of the most highly touted performers in the wrestling business over the past few years, and in his time in NXT, he's clearly proven that he's a future World Champion all throughout the WWE. Riddle just had a classic with Velveteen Dream in New York, and despite the loss, he looks more and more like the star we all know he can be, and despite being quite young in his WWE career, he's arguably the most main roster ready performer in NXT.

Combining his laid back charisma and charm with his legitimate MMA background and devastating striking arsenal, the former UFC star can wrestle any style of match imaginable, and that's perhaps why he is so ready for the biggest stage the WWE has to offer.

Riddle has made no secret of the fact that he wants to be the one to retire Brock Lesnar, and with the depth of talent in NXT, he may be pushed quickly through the ranks, and let's just say that it's quite possible WrestleMania 36 will pit The Beast against The Bro with Lesnar's career on the line.

#4 Johnny Gargano

Johnny Gargano

Johnny Gargano culminated his 4 years of hard work in NXT in New York by becoming the brand's first Triple Crown Champion, and while that means he'll be staying in NXT for a while longer, he's been main roster ready for quite some time now. Gargano is an incredible performer in every phase of professional wrestling, and with the support of the NXT Universe, he's risen to heights that no one in NXT has yet achieved, but we are still cautious about his chances on the main roster.

There are few in the world who play the underdog better than Johnny Wrestling/Champion/whatever else you'd like to call him, and if booked properly on the main roster, he could be a World Champion like Daniel Bryan.

Only time will tell, but Gargano has had an incredible run down in NXT, and while he may not succeed on the main roster, he's got all the tools to become a top guy if utilised correctly.

#3 War Raiders

War Raiders

The War Raiders only became NXT Tag Team Champions last January, but they already have quite the resume since joining NXT in 2018, but the duo of Hanson and Raymond Rowe are clearly already meant for bigger and better things.

Though intimidating in size, the former ROH and IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions can fly around with the rest of them (Hanson especially), and it makes them one of the most exciting teams to ever come through the developmental brand.

The depth in the NXT tag team division has been crazy for quite some time now, and with the likes of Street Profits, Forgotten Sons, Undisputed Era and a recently signed Aussie duo of Jonah Rock and Elliot Sexton, we could be seeing the Raiders on the main roster before we know it.

Whether that comes in 2019 or beyond, these two have been ready for quite some time, and with everything it takes to be stars, they'd be the top tag team on the main roster in no time.

#2 Shayna Baszler

The main roster is full of incredibly diverse women who all have different traits and attributes to offer, but with Ronda Rousey reportedly taking a leave of absence from the WWE, there are none better suited to step into that spot than Shayna Baszler. The current NXT Women's Champion has been ruling over the black and gold brand for quite some time, and with Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke by her side, the only way she could be dethroned is if she was indeed promoted to RAW or Smackdown Live.

Duke and Shafir are unfortunately not main roster ready, but the Queen of Spades certainly is, and it wouldn't shock anyone if she were promoted to the main roster in this week's Superstar Shakeup.

While her promos still aren't amazing, Baszler's talent is displayed through her in-ring work and great character work, and whether she has people by her side or not, she'll quickly rise through the ranks on RAW or Smackdown Live, whenever she is called up.

#1 Adam Cole (and The Undisputed Era)

Undisputed Era
Undisputed Era

If it wasn't clear before, than it's definitely clear after the main event of NXT Takeover: New York that Adam Cole is indeed going to be an absolute superstar and merchandise selling machine on the main roster.

Cole may not be the biggest in terms of stature, but with Kyle O'Reilly, Bobby Fish and Roderick Strong by his side, this group could become unstoppable when promoted to the main roster, but it's still very clear that the Panama City Playboy is the leader of this great group.

The main roster is incredibly stacked with talent right now, and although a group like Undisputed Era would manage to stand out, it's clear that these guys have some time left down in NXT.

When they are called up, The Undisputed Era will be heavily pushed, and with the joy fans around the world scream: "Adam Cole Bay-Bay", their merchandise will fly off the shelf, and it wouldn't surprise anyone to see them hold as much gold as possible.
