Candice LeRae was well-known on the independent circuit before she came to WWE because of her ability in intergender matches. LeRae was originally part of a tag team with Joey Ryan and the duo would battle other male teams regularly, but LeRae has also battled several men in singles competition.
One of these men is her husband Johnny Gargano. The couple dated for a number of years before marrying in 2016, which was just before LeRae made her way to WWE.
The match took place at Absolutely Intense Wrestling before the two stars made their way to WWE and on this occasion, it was LeRae who came out on top when she rolled her future husband up.
LeRae debuted as part of a storyline with her husband, which means that the couple has always been known to be in a relationship and they have worked together throughout their time in NXT.
LeRae has had a number of altercations with men but has never been able to face off in a one-on-one match on NXT like she was once able to on the independent circuit.
