In the world of professional wrestling, tag teams rarely stick around forever. Even legendary tag teams such as The Hardy Boyz and The Dudley Boyz have broken up over the years in order to pursue singles careers. And this is very much the case with a number of WWE superstars on today's roster who have formerly enjoyed tag team success during their careers.

Today, we pay homage to those former tag team partners and see what they have been up to in the years since they were in the tag team spotlight. So, without any further ado, here is our list of 5 current WWE superstars and their old tag team partners: Where are they now?

#5) Brian Kendrick and Paul London

A different day and age this was
A different day and age this was

Brian Kendrick and Paul London were one of the most explosive and entertaining tag teams in the WWE during the noughties. Beloved for their aerial prowess and superb tag team combinations, the fan favourites won hearts all over the world with their exciting brand of wrestling.

Kendrick, of course, is still around in the WWE as a part of the Cruiserweight Division whereas London has been on the indie circuit. Though he is only 37 years old, it seems unlikely that London will make a return to the WWE following his explosive outburst against the company and Triple H in particular.

#4) Bobby Roode and James Storm

Yes yes, I know that Bobby Roode and The Cowboy James Storm were actually a tag team in TNA but my list, my rules, thank you very much.

The duo were one of the top teams in the company before Roode moved on to the superb singles career that he enjoys to this day. Storm himself had a shot with the WWE through an NXT contract but things never worked out for The Cowboy.

He has since returned to TNA (or Impact Wrestling or Global Force Wrestling or whatever you want to call it).

#3) The Miz and John Morrison

How the hell did this ever work out?
How the hell did this ever work out?

The Miz and John Morrison were an unexpected tag team pairing who worked together surprisingly well. The duo's cockiness and arrogance made them the perfect heel tag team during a time when the WWE's tag team division was struggling.

The Miz has gone on to establish himself as one of the top workers in the WWE today but John Morrison (or Johnny Mundo on the indie scene and Johnny Impact in GFW) will be seen as one who got away for the world's largest wrestling promotion.

After enjoying a fruitful run on the indie scene, Morrison signed with GFW earlier this year.

#2) Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas

Underrated and underappreciated

The World's Greatest Tag Team - despite the name - remain one of the most underrated tag teams in the history of the WWE. Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas absolutely tore things up during their time together in the WWE. Of course, they did eventually break up with Benjamin going on to great things - both in the WWE and on the indie scene.

Haas, on the other hand, has left the world of professional wrestling behind him - after a lukewarm run on the indies - to become a successful businessman. He owns his own "Custom Muscle Nutrition and Smoothie Shop".

#1) Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Ted Dibiase Jr.

Nowhere near as successful as Evolution
Nowhere near as successful as Evolution

When Randy Orton formed his own version of Evolution called Legacy, there was a palpable sense of excitement. Orton mentoring two renowned second generation superstars? Yes, please. Unfortunately, the faction didn't prove to be even half as successful as Evolution was.

After disbanding, both Cody Rhodes and Ted Dibiase Jr had some bad runs in the company. The latter left first to pursue his own business while the former has proven himself on the indie circuit.

Cody has reinvented himself after the Stardust fiasco in the WWE to become one of the top names on the indie scene today.
