RAW vs SmackDown vs NXT: 5 dream matches between the three brands

NXT, Smackdown and RAW go to WAR!
NXT, Smackdown and RAW go to WAR!

With the abundance of talent WWE and NXT have on their rosters right now, just imagine if all three brands waged war upon each other and five dream triple-threat matches were booked.

I have a dream. Unfortunately, it's not a dream of how to settle world political problems, it's a dream involving my favourite WWE and NXT superstars and what would happen if they went to war. More specifically, what if WWE and NXT hosted WarGames and had all three brands collide. Imagine the chaos, the destruction. Imagine a world like this.

People always say you've got to follow your dreams.

Therefore, I have composed a list of the top five dream triple-threat matches that could be booked, if this war ever became reality.

#5 Charlotte Flair vs. Asuka vs. Kairi Sane

The Pirate Princess has found her treasure
The Pirate Princess has found her treasure

Charlotte Flair:

Charlotte Flair was one of the key components in the women's revolution, a movement that saw several talented divas from NXT infiltrate into the WWE to redefine the division. Having been born into the business, being the daughter of sixteen-time world champion Ric Flair, Charlotte has been taught by the absolute best.

This shows in her in-ring abilities, as she simply woos the crowd every time she steps inside the squared circle. Just like her Father, she knows how to win the important matches, being a six-time Women's Champion, the current Smackdown Women's Champion and the only competitor to have held all three titles in the women's division.

Asuka:

Asuka on the other hand, might not have been part of the women's revolution, but she's the evolution of the entirety of women's wrestling across the world. She's voted number one on the PWI list of the top 50 female wrestlers, ahead of runner-up Charlotte. Her impressive NXT Women's Championship reign lasted for some record 523 days and she also holds the record for the longest ever undefeated streak in WWE history. She is still yet to be pinned since her debut in NXT in October 2015.

Kairi Sane:

The winner of the 2017 Mae Young Classic is no newcomer in the world of professional wrestling. She began her career in 2012, under the more well-known name of Kaiti Hojo, quickly becoming a national wrestling star in Japan, capturing eight championships in only five years. Her success caught the eyes of WWE scouts and in 2016 she was awarded a developmental deal with the company, making her debut the following year.

Since her debut, she's made a name for herself quickly as Kairi Sane, winning the Mae Young Classic and joining NXT, being rewarded with a shot at the vacant NXT Women's Championship. Unfortunately for Kairi, Ember Moon pipped her to the post last month to win the championship.

If they fought:

'The Queen of WWE', 'The Empress of Tomorrow' and 'The Pirate Princess' could be considered the top three female competitors in the world of professional wrestling right now. Even if two of these mega-stars locked horns, it could redefine the women's division. But imagine what all three could do.

Although it seems likely that Asuka will continue her undefeated streak for some while yet, every streak must come to an end eventually. But I don't think WWE would allow Asuka to be the one who is pinned or tapped out if this match took place. I guess that technically means Asuka's streak continues. But picking up huge momentum with the biggest win of her career, Kairi Sane would shock the world and put the entire women's division on notice.

Result: Kairi Sane win

NXT 1 - RAW 0 - Smackdown 0

#4 Lars Sullivan vs. Brock Lesnar vs. Rusev

Ha ha, this match will never happen, I only have to defend this four times per year
Haha, this match will never happen, I only have to defend this four times per year

Lars Sullivan:

Lars has become one of the most destructive forces in NXT in a very short amount of time. Surprisingly, Sullivan signed with the WWE back in 2013, but he didn't make his televised debut until April 2017, losing in tag team competition. His unstoppable run in singles competition began in September 2017, defeating three opponents in a three-on-one handicap match.

And after defeating the experienced Kassius Ohno at NXT TakeOver: WarGames last month, it's clear Lars Sullivan is getting a big push in WWE's developmental territory. Resemblances between this monster and 'The Beast' can be seen, but will he be 'The Next, Next Big Thing' in WWE?

Brock Lesnar:

The former UFC World Champion has come a long way since he was nicknamed 'The Next Big Thing' in the WWE. He's perhaps become the biggest thing in WWE and the entirety of sports entertainment. Paul Heyman is correct when he says any match Brock Lesnar competes in should be the main event.

There's the best in the world, then there's Brock Lesnar on a pedestal above that, on his own intensity level. Although opponents such as Samoa Joe, Braun Strowman and most recently AJ Styles, have given him scares, he always seems to be dominant.

Rusev:

Speaking of dominance, Rusev was undoubtedly one of the most dominant forces in the WWE between 2014 and 2016. In addition to his lengthy unbeaten run, he also held the United States Championship on two occasions, for a combined time of 270 days. Back then, I was hoping to see Brock Lesnar vs. Rusev, without knowing what the result would be.

And they did, in fact, compete at a live house show in August 2016, but by then it seemed Rusev's momentum had already taken a devastating blow. If Rusev can get back some of his killer instinct and mount another unbeatable run in the WWE, then 'The Bulgarian Brute' could again become a convincing challenger to 'The Beast'.

If they fought:

There's plenty of similarities between these three dominant superstars. It's almost looking at a time machine, Brock being the past, Rusev the present and Lars the future. Lars looks set to be on one hell of a run, which could result in him becoming the next big thing in WWE. Much like Rusev back in 2014 and Lesnar back in 2002.

There's one big difference though, Brock Lesnar has remained a constant force between now and then, compiling a list of accomplishments in the past 17 years that probably won't ever be replicated, from his amateur wrestling days, WWE, UFC and NJPW. Therefore, there's only one 'Beast' in the WWE and that is Brock Lesnar.

Result: Brock Lesnar win

NXT 1 - RAW 1 - Smackdown 0

#3 Aleister Black vs. Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Samoa Joe

We can't have a dream card without 'The King of Strong'
We can't have a dream card without 'The King of Strong'

Aleister Black:

Black is one of the most exciting prospects in all of NXT and WWE right now. After some spectacular performances, it almost feels like we're still yet to see the true potential in the Dutchman. As a prominent Kick-boxer, some people might have believed Black to be one dimensional, but after putting on the match of the night against Velveteen Dream last month, showing off his wrestling ability, he must be now considered a future main eventer.

After winning multiple championships in the independent circuit, across 16 years, Black is still undefeated in NXT in singles competition. And I for one, am looking forward to the future of the WWE with Aleister Black involved.

Shinsuke Nakamura:

'The King of Strong', globally known as one of the best professional wrestlers in history, truly belongs on the biggest stage of them all. He's a born entertainer, with his unique, flamboyant and charismatic style, he became a multi-time champion in NJPW. He put on classics with legends in the sport, one of the most famous of all time being against AJ Styles at Wrestle Kingdom 10.

Nakamura held three IWGP Heavyweight championships, in which his first made him the youngest ever IWGP Heavyweight champion in history. Nakamura signed to WWE's developmental territory in 2016, much to the delight of the fans, eventually holding the NXT World championship for a record two-times, before getting promoted to Smackdown

Samoa Joe:

'The Samoan Submission Machine' is a special sort of talent, with an arsenal of dangerous strikes, airborne attacks and submission hold. But perhaps, it's the fact that he can back up his in-ring skills with the natural ability to use the mic to instil fear in his opponents. Joe has it all and has done it all in the business, except being a WWE World Heavyweight champion.

In his fifteen years prior to NXT, Joe was dominant across ROH, TNA and the independent circuit, holding multiple world championships. His dominance didn't subside whilst wrestling in NXT, being the only other man, alongside Nakamura, to have held the NXT World Championship on two separate occasions. And now on Monday night RAW, each of his opponents must know there's a good chance that; Joe is gonna' kill them.

If they fought:

This would be like if Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan and Jet Li squared off, as the strike power of this trio would make for a very hard-hitting affair indeed. Each man has strong backgrounds in martial arts and working on the independent circuit. And each one can also put on a clinic when it comes to professional wrestling.

Aleister Black is on a roll recently and WWE must be considering him as a future world champion. But his time will have to wait because both Joe and Nakamura are now fully settled into RAW and Smackdown respectively and it's just a matter of time before both taste more gold. In this contest, I can see Nakamura tasting it first, with his opponents only tasting a deadly Kinshasa.

Result: Shinsuke Nakamura win

NXT 1 - RAW 1 - Smackdown 1

#2 AJ Styles vs. Finn Balor vs. Roderick Strong

You don't want none when it comes to waging war on the Phenomenal One
You don't want none when it comes to waging war on the Phenomenal One

AJ Styles:

Let's face it, the "Phenomenal One" could fight most people and make it interesting. He's one of those talents that know how to put on a show, much like 'The Showstopper' Shawn Michaels. But there's a handful of superstars in WWE and NXT, that if put against the current WWE champion, then magic would be made.

And I ponder over who these superstars are time and time again, the top one being Shinsuke Nakamura. Yes, I ponder and ponder, then wonder why it's midday and I've got no work done and I'm probably going to get fired again. I blame AJ Styles for many lost moments in my life, but then I realise, that he's given me so many phenomenal moments too. What a true champ he is.

Finn Balor:

'The Demon King' is one of those superstars within that handful of talent, I want to see against AJ Styles. We saw a glimpse of this at TLC a couple of months ago, as the two former Bullet Club members faced off in singles competition.

Despite being on different shows currently, (as we all know, that doesn't really mean much in WWE) we should expect to see this contest again in the future. Finn Balor is the first ever WWE Universal Champion and the fans want to see him reclaim the top prize which he never really lost. Maybe, the WWE Championship would be a nice consolation prize for Finn.

Roderick Strong:

Yes, we know AJ Styles and Finn Balor can produce magic, but imagine what trickery a triple-threat contest between these three men could conjure up. Roderick, just like AJ and Finn, found glory in the independent circuit. In fact, Strong made his wrestling debut in 2003 within the 'Independent Professional Wrestling' promotion.

Strong won championships in ROH, PWG and FIP and wrestled in Japan and for TNA. Roderick made his NXT debut in the latter part of 2016 and has put on some exhilarating performances in the last year. Having still not yet held gold in NXT or made the climb yet to the main shows, Roderick is one of the best performers in professional wrestling today and deserves both.

If they fought:

These three world-class athletes could potentially tear the roof off the arena and would certainly put on the match of the night. AJ Styles is considered one of the very best in the world, possibly second behind Okada, but there's not much between him and others like Balor and Strong. With so much talent outside the WWE, NXT is bringing the absolute best to McMahon's empire.

However, even after AJ Styles bypassed NXT altogether and missed out on the 'learning curve', as Triple H calls it, of WWE's developmental territory, he's still become a two-time WWE Champion and a two-time US Champion before even reaching his second-year anniversary with the company. AJ might be surpassed in years to come by younger guys such as Balor and Strong, but for now, AJ Styles gets the win here.

Result: AJ Styles win

NXT 1 - RAW 1 - Smackdown 2

#1 The Shield vs. The Undisputed Era vs. The New Day

The Hounds of Justice are no newcomers when it comes to waging war
The Hounds of Justice are no newcomers when it comes to waging war

The Shield:

'The Hounds of Justice' are one of the most dominant, formidable stables in professional wrestling history. Within their first five years in the WWE, they have collectively held the NXT Championship, four World Tag-Team Championships, three United States Championships, three Intercontinental Championships, six World Heavyweight Championships, one Royal Rumble win, two Money in the Bank wins, and two Superstar of the Year awards.

Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns are also Grand-Slam winners. Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose won various championships in the independent circuit before making their way to WWE.

The Undisputed Era:

Still a very new stable, The Undisputed Era consist of Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish. However, these three men are certainly no rookies when it comes to professional wrestling. Cole might be only 28 years of age, but he has already won three World Heavyweight Championships in ROH and holds the record for not only the longest reigning CZW World Junior Heavyweight Champion of all-time but also the longest reigning PWG World Champion.

Adam Cole has an extremely bright future within the WWE. Fish and O'Reilly are already the NXT Tag-Team Champions but have a storied past together throughout the independent circuit. They are in fact the only Tag-Team to have won Tag-Team Championships in ROH, NJPW and NXT. And I wouldn't be surprised if they complete that collection with WWE Tag-Team gold eventually.

The New Day:

The New Day might just be the most entertaining stable of all time. And I'm not just writing this, with hopes that The New Day might see this article and reward me with a lifetime supply of Booty O's (although if you do see this New Day, I'll have the blue box please).

Big-E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods are four-time Tag Team Champions and have held the titles of the two brands for an amazing 587 combined days, since April 2015. That is impressive. In addition to their tag team success, they have also held five Intercontinental Championships, four United States Championships and one NXT World Championship.

Each member of this tantalising trio are incredibly talented athletes and are blessed with mic ability. Even though I kind of want to see them shakes their hips forever, a part of me can't wait to see them go their separate ways, hopefully involving one of the most devilish heels turns in the past decade.

If they fought:

This would be the main event and would be featured in the satanic WarGames structure. Absolute chaos would pursue, like unicorn horns, Booty O's and trombones go flying everywhere (mainly just all the props of the New Day). The athleticism of all nine men would make for an absolute feast of high flying manoeuvres, together with the right number of brawls and brutality mixed in.

As seen at Survivor Series, The Shield have the edge over the New Day. The Undisputed Era undoubtedly has a lot of gold ahead of them, but I think in this match, all they have immediately ahead of them is an ambulance ride. I see the Shield walking, or perhaps, limping out with the victory here, ending WarGames with a fist bump of congratulations.

Result: The Shield win
