Wrestlemania is generally a time for the WWE to start afresh.

To tie up loose ends from the previous years and to push new storylines. To take floundering Superstars and inject new life into them.

Or to take a beloved babyface and turn him or her heel.

And the upcoming Superstar Shakeup gives the WWE a perfect opportunity to do just that.

Even if the Superstar in question isn't switched over from one brand to another, at least it presents an opportunity for them to switch their allegiances over to the dark side.

So without further ado, here are 5 unexpected face to heel that you never saw coming after the Superstar Shakeup!

#1 Big E

After accumulating 4 Title runs, including a massive one that broke the record for longest tenured Tag Team Champions, I think we can all agree that the New Day could do with a little freshening up.

And Big E, who's always been the one among the three earmarked for success in singles competition (despite Kofi's plethora of mid card accolades), could be the perfect candidate to initiate the break up.

Much like how Seth Rollins turning on his Shield brothers led to a highly successful singles run, Big E could turn on Kofi and Xavier Woods after their latest failed attempt to contend for the SmackDown Live Tag Titles and kick start a singles heel run.

Who knows?

Perhaps his success in the New Day could filter through to his singles run as well.

#2 Charlotte Flair

Charlotte Flair's heel run on Raw was stellar...not so much on SD Live!

I mean they couldn't have Carmella carry around that briefcase forever, could they? And to be honest, SmackDown Live needed a heel champion too.

As good as Charlotte is inside the ring, her run as a babyface Champion on SmackDown Live just wasn't working.

Now, without the Title, she's free to move over to Raw during the Superstar shakeup and physically challenge Nia Jax as a heel in a way it just wouldn't have been believable for Alexa Bliss to do.

A win-win, isn't it?

#3 Finn Balor

About time I'd say.
About time I'd say.

After having Finn Balor spread a message of inclusion with the LGBTQ community through his WrestleMania entrance and gear...what sense does it make to turn him heel so quickly after, you ask?

That's precisely why it's a great move, in my opinion.

For one, it's completely left field. No one will see it coming. And after having bottled up the demon persona for such a long time, it would also mean that he can unleash it with a vengeance.

Oh and of course.

He could reform Balor Club with Anderson and Gallows who've well and truly lost their way in the tag team division.

So many options!

#4 Bobby Roode

The Glorious One is in desperate need of a shake up.

He's just not really gotten anywhere as a babyface on SmackDown Live and like Randy Orton, anyone who's watched Roode would agree that he does his best work as a heel.

Perhaps he could move to Raw to preface a heel turn or even remaining on SmackDown Live, it could be just as effective.

Especially if there's a double turn involving him and the extremely popular Rusev. And a feud between them could really put Rusev over to challenge for Jinder Mahal's US Title next.

At this point, it makes sense for all parties involved.

#5 John Cena

Will Cena finally snap?
Will Cena finally snap?

Will the impossible finally come to pass?

For years there have been rumours of John Cena heel turns but it has never really bore fruit.

Yes, he's not around currently as he's filming for Duke Nukem right now but when he does come back, isn't this an amazing opportunity to finally turn him heel?

That the WWE decided that it's okay to have a 53 year old man straight up squash John Cena at WrestleMania 34 reveals a lot.

As much doesn't ride on him as it used to anymore. He's not as indispensable to the company anymore. John Cena the character doesn't need to be booked as strongly anymore.

Most importantly though, he really doesn't need to be a babyface anymore.

And in the event that his feud with the Undertaker continues for a while, we know pretty well that the fans aren't going boo the Deadman. So might as well have John Cena turn heel, right?
