The 24/7 Championship may be one of the most bizarre Championships WWE has ever introduced, but it has really allowed the company to add some interesting and comedic angles to many segments on both RAW and SmackDown.
R-Truth is a name that has become synonymous with the title, but his accomplice, Carmella, has also managed to play a major role in Truth’s reigns as the Champion.
Surprisingly, Carmella took advantage of a distraction that she created last week in order to pin her own partner and win the 24/7 Championship. While we expected Truth to be shocked at Carmella’s antics, it was a pleasant surprise to see him become her accomplice instead.
Now that WWE has portrayed that women can also hold the 24/7 Championship, it’s time that more women in WWE get a chance to get in the title picture and gain from the spotlight it provides.
In this article, we will look at five female Superstars from WWE would could benefit from a 24/7Championship run.
#5 Dana Brooke
Dana Brooke signed with WWE in mid-2013 and became a part of its NXT brand soon after. Brooke usually performed as a solo competitor but formed a few alliances along the way. In 2016, she was ranked 26th in a list of the top 50 female wrestlers in the PWI Female 50.
Even though she got some attention in NXT, her move to the main roster saw her get watered down week after week. She formed a team with Titus O’Neil and Apollo Crews, remaining their manager for some time before quitting from the alliance.
While Brooke has remained a mid-carder for almost all her time in WWE and been a jobber, for the most part, she has shown some promise inside the ring in recent times.
WWE should put some focus on Brooke whenever possible and possibly align her with a top Superstar as a henchwoman.
To bring some spotlight onto Brooke, WWE could hand the title to Brooke and demand a title defence from her by using some heelish tactics. Fans have usually supported Brooke on social media throughout her career, and she could use that platform to her benefit during her reign as the Champion.
#2 Tamina
Tamina may be one of the strongest and most lethal women in WWE today, but she hasn’t exhibited the in-ring talent and chemistry which is required to make it big in the industry.
This has led to her remaining in the mid-card more often than not, and failing to win any Championships in the company at every opportunity. Her alliances with other women have led to her getting more attention than anything else, but Tamina will be looking to become a force on her own, rather than being a henchwoman to other women at all times.
This is where the 24/7 Championship could benefit her, as she requires something of substance to defend in order to be the center of attention and showcase her wrestling abilities.
Such a storyline could help her display her talent and strength to the WWE Universe and benefit from it in the long run. The 24/7 Championship has worked well with those who try to add a comic angle to their reign, and Tamina could very well do that to ensure she has a memorable reign.
#3 Lana
The Ravishing Russian has never been the best in-ring talent, but she is more than a handful on the mic and as a manager.
After a long reign as Rusev’s manager, Lana seems to have turned on her Bulgarian husband and has an on-screen affair with Bobby Lashley. Lashley has managed to take the RAW brand by storm and could have won a championship reign in the process.
Inserting Lana and Lashley into the picture at such a time could mean that WWE has some plans for them, and the company could bring more attention to them by allowing Lana to take the title away from Carmella.
Just like R-Truth and Carmella’s comedic and energetic pairing, WWE could build Lashley and Lana as the heelish alliance which could be pipped to take over the mixed tag team scene.
With Lana holding the 24/7 Championship, we could see everyone fearing to pin her as Lashley would always be by her side and no one would want to mess with The All Mighty for any reason at all.
The storyline emerging from this angle could help both Lana and Lashley stay prominent, and also increase the value of the 24/7 Championship in the process.
#4 Lacey Evans
Lacey Evans showed a lot of promise coming from NXT to the main roster after the Superstar made her official main roster debut at the Royal Rumble. After lasting some time in the match, she was eliminated by Charlotte Flair but managed to leave a huge mark on the match.
Following that, she continued to make appearances on both RAW and SmackDown and interrupted matches and segments in the process. Even though Evans was very new to the main roster fanbase, she was fast-tracked to the top of the card and continued to attack the then RAW and SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch.
However, Evans did not impress much inside the ring, and lost every opportunity she got to get her hands on the RAW Women’s Championship. This led to the creatives and the fans losing fate in her, and she now continues to compete in the mid-card in mixed bookings.
If WWE does have faith in Evans and her abilities, then they should give her more importance before the fans lose all interest in her. To do that, they need to hand her a title before it’s too late, and the 24/7 Championship could work well for her, keeping her on-screen character.
#5 Liv Morgan
Liv Morgan is one of the few Superstars who is loved by fans regardless of which character she portrays on screen. She’d spent most of her time in the company as a part of he Riott Squad, and the trio have enjoyed mixed success on NXT and the main roster.
During the 2019 WWE Superstar Shake-up in April, Morgan was moved from RAW to SmackDown, effectively separating her from The Riott Squad in the process. Fans were thrilled at the idea of seeing a good solo run from the young Superstar on the main roster, but she did not receive any screentime for an extended period of time.
Liv returned to television in July and confronted Charlotte Flair on SmackDown. The move led to a match between the two women, which was a good run for the Superstar before she lost by submission.
However, Liv has been missing from television since then, and hinted at a character change which fans were looking forward to, but seem to have forgotten now.
The 24/7 Championship could prove to be a great way to bring back Liv and her new character on screen, as winning the title will immediately bring a lot of spotlight on the Superstar and get her back in the news.
