5 indy stars WWE is looking to sign

There has to be a reason he was pointed out in the crowd

The WWE has been adding to it’s roster heavily of late, what with the Brand Split approaching and NXT required to shore up the talent in the main show. And as a result, there are naturally spots that get vacant in the developmental brand that need to be filled.

The good news for the WWE is that there is no shortage of talent in the world and that the company has a wide array to pick from in the Indy circuit.

Here are 5 such wrestlers that can be signed up by the WWE.

#5 Ricochet

The exeptional Ricochet

One thing that's notable about the high flying Ricochet is that he rarely makes mistakes. Even when performing the most intricate of sequences, his work looks almost impossibly smooth. His reputation has grown in recent years, following a successful spell working for Dragon Gate and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla.

Both New Japan Pro Wrestling and Lucha Underground couldn't fail to take notice either.

In both those promotions, Ricochet has become an even more well-rounded wrestler. His chiseled look and excellent flexibility makes for a fantastic overall package. In WWE, he'd be an ideal guy to introduce on NXT, and that could be a reality with the WWE now having him included in the cruiserweight classic this month.

#4 Adam Cole

The next man on the list is another top Indy star and someone who could slide right into the WWE’s plans, Adam Cole.

There aren’t many other wrestlers that are as smooth as Cole inside the squared circle, as he is one of those talents that has the ability to do it all. However, one thing that stands out about Cole more than others is his charisma.

There aren’t many independent talents that truly grasp how important it is to have interaction with the fans, and Cole has seemed to master that with his character.

It is believed that WWE’s Vince McMahon is a fan of ROH star Adam Cole and he wants him to be the next face of NXT. It could just be a matter of when and not if WWE will sign Adam to the WWE.

#3 The Young Bucks

Matt and Nick, The Young Bucks (above)

It may be odd to see a tag-team on the list, as the WWE doesn’t usually sign talent as a team. Brothers Matt and Nick Jackson have had amazing matches all over the world for New Japan Pro Wrestling, Ring of Honor, TNA Wrestling, so it's no surprise that WWE showed interest in singing them at some point.

There were rumours spiralling around that the 2 talented superstars might sign with WWE's NXT brand before moving up to the main roster, but it has never happened. They have supposedly talked with WWE while they were going through the process of deciding what company to sign with last year.

The two superstars have still not signed with the WWE and it doesn’t look as though the two of them will for the foreseeable future. The Two superstars are a well decorated tag team and WWE can see the potential, but it looks as though these two hot commodities will be avoiding WWE for now.

#2 Kota Ibushi

Is it only a matter of time?

Ibushi is a great in ring talent and is one of hottest current free agent in professional wrestling. Ibushi has competed in New Japan Pro Wrestling, where he is a former three-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and one-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion.

After appearing in the crowd at an NXT TakeOver special, rumours are that Ibushi officially signing with WWE. It wouldn’t be like the WWE to show a superstar in attendance at an event if they weren’t in talks with them.

With Ibushi included in the Cruiserweight Classic it can be assumed that WWE will be pushing hard to sign this extraordinary talent.

#1 Will Ospreay

Will he? Won’t he?

Ospreay, after the match he had with Ricochet during the Super Juniors tournament caused quite a stir in the wrestling world and WWE had noticed. Will Ospreay went on to win the Best of the Super Juniors tournament and is a huge star on the rise after that victory for New Japan Pro Wrestling.

If the rumours are true WWE officials were extremely interested in having Ospreay participate in the “Cruiserweight Classic” this July but unfortunately we won’t be seeing that happen. He has now signed with New Japan for the next two years, so it’s very unlikely he’ll be a part of WWE in the near future but you never know what the future has in store for this talent.

Will Ospreay is an international superstar, and he is very young. At only twenty-three years old, he’s the youngest man to win the Super Juniors tournament and WWE will most likely be knocking on his door in two years.
