You probably have been living under a rock the past year if you have not heard of "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes and his wife Brandi. Both, as a couple, have recently made the transition to NJPW in Japan. The charismatic duo also played a huge role in NJPW's recent Wrestle Kingdom 12 pay-per-view. History was also made at Wrestle Kingdom by having Brandi become the first African-American talent to be a part of the PPV event!
Cody and his wife Brandi have been on the independent circuit for a while now since Cody left WWE for a brighter future, leaving behind the "Stardust" character in the rearview mirror. This has proved to be a great decision for the couple as they have seen much success recently since leaving the big promotion's WWE & Impact Wrestling. Mrs Rhodes has worked as an announcer for both the power companies in recent years.
Her popularity has drastically increased in the past few months and she has gained a tremendous following. We all know she is great on the microphone with her ring announcing and has shown awesome skill in the ring as well. #5 Brandi was a News Anchor
Before making her move into the sports entertainment business and meeting her future husband Cody, a young Brandi worked as a news anchor back in her home state of Michigan.
Her first job in television proved to be vital for her later in life as she became a popular face in the wrestling world. Shortly after becoming a news personality in Michigan, she started working for The University of Miami's television station where she also attended college. At the University of Miami, she received a Master's degree in Broadcast Journalism. Also, while in Miami she began to pursue a career in modelling and acting which carried over into her wrestling career.
Working as an anchor on television really helped with her on-screen presence and self-esteem. This would turn out to be very beneficial for Cody's wife Brandi as she entered the vast world of the entertainment business. Of course, being an anchor was a huge confidence booster and assisted her with the right training she needed to become the media presence she is today.
The camera cannot get enough of the beautiful Brandi as she has been in front of them for most of her life. It seems like she was meant to be in the spotlight from the beginning of her early career which has transcended into the wrestling world.
#4 Figure Skater
No doubt Brandi was born to be an athlete and has displayed her talents ever since a young girl. At the tender age of four, she started figure skating and continued to do so for seventeen years skating for fun and competitively.
Skating consists of patience, strength, and agility which has contributed over to her wrestling career. Figure skating is like professional wrestling because both consist of tough competition and performing in front of an audience. It is very hard too even grasp figure skating, just like with wrestling, as you must train endlessly to become a master of your craft.
#3 She owns Confection swimwear
Not only can Brandi work the ring well, she's also an entrepreneur at heart and created her own line of swimsuits called "Confection Swimwear". Confection was born in 2015 and has had much success thus far in the company's short lifespan. Brandi personally has her hand's in everything Confection makes available to the public. She also is heavily involved in the decision making of every aspect of the business.
You can say she is truly a jack of all trades and has had success with whatever venture she pursues. Brandi creates and designs all the swimwear that Confection currently sales. She has a powerful taste for style and fashion which has been the backbone of the swim line. Be prepared to see more in the future from Brandi and her line "Confection Swimwear".
#2 She was in multiple national advertisements
Not only was Brandi in advertisements for Maxim Magazine but she was also in a few Budweiser and KFC advertisements as well. Her love for modelling and acting played a huge part in her evolving into a media sensation. Her tremendous looks and presence is a huge factor in her being able to receive these opportunities that some people may never experience.
The sky is the limit for Brandi and is only going to get brighter for her and Cody in the future!
#1 She's a wrestling champion
On March 30, 2017, Brandi pinned Joey Ryan to win the Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship in DDT Pro-Wrestling in from the Wyndham Orlando Resort in Florida. It was exciting but did not last very long for the newly crowned Brandi. She only held the title for less than 24 hours. This match also contained thumbtacks, which is a favourite of Hall of Fame great Mick Foley, so you can say she's hardcore herself. Her being dropped on the tacks was impressive, to say the least.
The only bad thing about this very short title run is that there have been over 1200 title holders of the belt. Those who have held the Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship range from cartoon characters to invisible people. This proves the title does not carry much prestige in the wrestling world and is solely for entertainment purposes only.
