Braun Strowman's Money in the Bank win didn't help him much in 2018

Last year was a pretty eventful one for the WWE. Many predictions were thrown out the door as a lot of unexpected things happened which kept the product as fresh as possible.

Ronda Rousey debuted and won the Raw Women's Championship in no time, Alexa Bliss was forced to take a break from wrestling, and Paige was forced to retire. Daniel Bryan made a return to the ring against all odds, and even won the WWE Championship within months of his return.

Asuka's streak came to an end at WrestleMania, but the Empress of Tomorrow still went on to win the SmackDown Women's Championship like most fans expected for 2018.

Drew McIntyre returned to the main roster and wreaked havoc on Raw. However, how many of us would have predicted that Brock Lesnar would lose the Universal Championship only to win it once again?

Heading into 2019, many things could happen which would surely keep the fans excited and coming back for more. Keeping that in mind, we have come up with a list of 5 bold predictions for the new year.

Take a look at the list below and share some of your own predictions for the year in the comments section.

#5 The Riott Squad will win the Women's Tag Team Championship

The Riott Squad have competed in numerous six-women tag team matches in 2018. Tag team matches are what the three women specialise in, and they have shown time and time again why their work as a heel tag team is unparalleled.

While Ruby Riott has gotten a few solo matches, Sarah Logan and Liv Morgan have stuck together in tag team competition and done well.

Since the women's tag team titles were announced, there has been much excitement in the WWE Universe.

However, the Raw commentary team have been hyping The Riott Squad much more than other teams, and even during their last match of 2018, the commentary team went on to claim that the trio could be wearing gold after WrestleMania.

This is an indication that WWE is trying to position the team as champions in the minds of the fans even before the titles are revealed, and we could see the trio become the first women's tag team champions when the titles are unveiled.

#4 Braun Strowman will become Kane

Kane was the original monster of the WWE for over a decade before other monstrous characters showed up. However, Braun Strowman has come the closest to replacing Kane as The Monster Among Men, and the most threatening character in the WWE.

The problem with the Kane character was that he wasn't too good on the mic, and worked storylines which did not do much to take him further in his career.

Kane won a few championships in the WWE, however, he was never a repeat champion when it came to the bigger prizes, and most of his title runs were also ordinary.

Similarly, Strowman has struggled to win any top prize in the WWE, and his only championship win was more of a humorous act than anything else. This has dented the big man's image.

If Strowman goes on to lose against Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble, then expect him to fall down the pecking order.

#3 Seth Rollins becomes the Universal Champion

Seth Rollins is unarguably the face of the men's roster of the flagship brand. Rollins belongs on Raw and has made it big both individually and as part of The Shield.

He held the Intercontinental Championship for over 6 months in 2018, and now deserves to step up from the mid-card title to the biggest one in 2019.

With Dean Ambrose as the Intercontinental Champion, Rollins can now move on to a feud he has been teasing - with Brock Lesnar.

Beating Brock Lesnar has always been a prestigious feat in WWE, and Rollins seems ready to become the latest addition to the men who have beaten the former UFC Champion.

While Braun Strowman is a good candidate to become the next Universal Champion at the Royal Rumble, Rollins seems like the best choice to finish the job at WrestleMania, winning the Universal Championship for the first time.

#2 Ronda Rousey will transform into a part-timer

Ronda Rousey is certainly not content with being Brock Lesnar's female equivalent, however, she might be forced to become one very soon.

After Survivor Series in November, Ronda took to her official YouTube channel where she revealed that she couldn't wrestle forever because she feels like she is failing her family.

Ronda plans to start a family, and to do this, she will require some time off from wrestling. After all, she is more used to a UFC schedule, and has been working quite a lot of shows for the WWE since her debut.

It's possible that Ronda will take a step back in 2019 after losing her first match & her title, and will take a hiatus only to return when the fans least expect it, and once again pull eyes onto the WWE.

Expect Ronda to become a part-timer like The Bella Twins and John Cena in mid-2019.

#1 Finn Balor will become the WWE Champion

The inaugural Universal Champion has failed to find his footing in WWE since his return from injury. He has delivered some of the best matches of 2018, and remains one of the brightest stars on Raw.

Although Raw needs talent like him, SmackDown seems like the brand where he belongs, with superstars like AJ Styles, Daniel Bryan, and The Miz already looking for some good competition.

When the Superstar Shake-up takes place, there is a great chance that Finn Balor will be moved to the blue brand. After that, he could be a top superstar on the brand, and go on to challenge Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship.

Balor is a top choice to become the WWE Champion, and a move to the blue brand this year could definitely mean his chance of winning the top championship of SmackDown Live.
