History was made today as WWE officially announced that "The Man", Becky Lynch, along with Roman Reigns, will grace the cover of the WWE 2K20 video game, being released on October 22nd.

Speaking about landing the cover of the game, Lynch told WWE.com:

“My career has been about breaking barriers and doing what nobody else has done before. Being the first female Superstar on the cover of a WWE 2K video game is no exception.”

Additionally, Roman Reigns tweeted the following, offering the first look at his playable character in the upcoming video game.

In case you missed it, below is the full cover reveal video. On that note, let's take a look at 5 key takeaways from the first glimpse at WWE 2K20.

#5 Becky Lynch is the new Steve Austin, not Kevin Owens

WWE 2K20 will not become available until October 22nd, but the video game has already made history in its initial announcement.

For the first time in video game franchise history, a female WWE Superstar will grace the cover of the game as Becky Lynch, known as The Man in WWE, will be a cover star along with Roman Reigns.

The game also makes history as it becomes the first in the franchise to feature two Superstars on the cover, as all previous incarnations of the game only featured one Superstar.

Lynch and Reigns now join elite company in “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, The Rock, John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Seth Rollins and AJ Styles as video game cover stars.

Judging by the cover release video, Lynch is certainly being positioned as the new Steve Austin in WWE, entering the video to the famous sound of "glass breaking", which catches the attention of Austin himself, who is featured in the video.

#4 Sheamus looks to be debuting a new look

WWE Superstar Sheamus has been off television for quite some time as he recovers from an injury, and recently The Celtic Warrior released the above photo on social media showing off his much-improved physique.

In the WWE 2K20 cover release video, Sheamus is shown briefly, and it's interesting to note that the former WWE Champion is no longer sporting his signature mohawk.

The hairdo very often drew the ire of WWE fans, as live crowds could be heard directing "you look stupid" chants at Sheamus, reacting to the mohawk, but the chants only seemed to prolong the look, as he seemed to enjoy the reactions he received.

At last word, Sheamus was reportedly nearing his return to the ring in WWE, and with the former Bar member being featured in the WWE 2K20 video, his presence could signal he is nearing his TV return.

#3 The Women's Revolution comes to WWE 2K20

WWE star Sasha Banks might be off television at the moment, with her future in the company very much in doubt, however, Banks will be a playable character in the upcoming WWE 2K20 video game, along with the rest of WWE's Four Horsewomen.

In a press release issued for the game, WWE announced a new Women's Revolution mode will be coming to WWE 2K20, and will allow players to play as the Four Horsewomen of the company.

"The upcoming WWE video game will include a new 2K Showcase mode spotlighting The Women’s Evolution, which follows the accomplished careers of WWE’s Four Horsewomen: Lynch, current SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley, Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks," reads the official press release.

WWE 2K20 is putting a ton of focus on the women's division in WWE, with Becky Lynch landing the cover of the game and now a new Showcase mode highlighting the entire Women's Revolution in the company.

#2 Notable legends appear in the video game

The WWE 2K franchise always boasts a large collection of playable WWE legends and Hall of Famers, and this year's game appears to be no different as the cover reveal video shows off several notable legends.

Appearing in the video himself is Hulk Hogan, and if you look closely at the background of the video, you can spot other names on the walls including Andre the Giant and Randy Savage.

Additionally, making her debut in a WWE video game is the late, great, Chyna. The former D-Generation X member has yet to appear in a WWE 2K game, and she will be included in the Deluxe Edition of this year's video game.

"The WWE 2K20 Deluxe Edition contains a copy of the game with special packaging, a complete set of WWE 2K20 Originals, access to the Accelerator, MyCareer Kickstart, WWE SuperCard limited edition cards, additional digital content offerings including the WWE 2K debut of Chyna as a playable character and more," reads the WWE press release.

#1 Roman Reigns remains at the top in WWE

Roman Reigns has been positioned as a top player in WWE for the past couple years, and prior to Reigns' hiatus from TV to battle leukemia, fans weren't always on board with WWE's persistence in pushing The Big Dog.

However, since Reigns returned to TV and announced his leukemia is in remission, his place in WWE has been towards the top, but not the main event title picture he found himself in before taking time off.

Reports surfaced a couple weeks ago noting that WWE is still easing Roman Reigns into a full-time schedule despite him competing on TV on a regular basis.

But with Reigns landing the cover of the WWE 2K20 video game this year, the achievement voids any belief fans might have that Reigns is no longer the "top dog" in the company.
