On the September 9th episode of Monday Night RAW, Lesnar challenged Stephanie to a match. Vince McMahon, who was then feuding with his daughter, gave Stephanie the choice between accepting Lesnar's challenge or quitting her SmackDown general manager position. She decided to take on the former WWE Champion.
Stephanie attempted to escape from the ring early on in the match. However, The Beast chased her backstage and brought her back on his shoulders to ringside. As Lesnar stood at ringside with Stephanie on his shoulders, Kurt Angle interfered and attacked him to save the then-SmackDown general manager.
