#2 Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn refuse to go by the rules
For all the right as well as the wrong reasons, 2017 has been Kevin Owens' year. The Prizefighter has maintained a steady balance of accomplishing commendable feats both inside and outside the ring.
The match in question is from the November 7th episode of SmackDown Live in which Sami Zayn took on Kofi Kingston. The plan was to have Zayn lose and then Owens was to come out for a collective beatdown on Kingston. Big E and Xavier Woods were supposed to make the save.
Everything went according to plan up until this point. The next course of action was to have the New Day beat up the heels and create a feel-good babyface atmosphere. As Pro Wrestling Sheet reported, Owens and Zayn were instructed to 'feed' the New Day.
This was when Owens digressed from the script and retreated instead of brawling with the New Day. Visibly confused New Day members looked on as Owens was heard screaming at Zayn to follow him backstage.
Following the unforeseen turn of events, the Canadian best friends were sent home packing from the UK tour and the IWC, naturally, began speculating regarding the possible reasons for the rebellion.
At one point, it seemed the duo were on their way out of the WWE. Thankfully, they're still the top heels that SmackDown LIVE has to offer.
