Professional wrestling is hollow without some fancy moves. These fancy moves require coordination from all the wrestlers involved in the act. You cannot make the audience invest in the act without equal coordination from both wrestlers - the guy who performs the move and the one who is at the receiving end . Thus, selling is an important part of any professional wrestling match.

Take, for example, The Undertaker's legendary battle against Triple H at WrestleMania 28 inside Hell in a Cell. After special guest referee Shawn Michaels delivered a Sweet Chin Music on Taker, followed quickly by a devastating Pedigree from Triple H, we all thought the streak was over. Undertaker performed a brilliant role, making us believe that he would not answer the referee's count of three. However, Taker kicked out at the very last millisecond - sending a wave of joy throughout the arena.

However, some wrestlers take it too far. They not only "sell" the move in an exaggerated manner, but also make professional wrestling even less believable. In this list, we will take a look at a few of the most exaggerated moments in professional wrestling history.

#5. Triple H's reaction to Randy Orton's boot

Even though this epic over-sell was during a dark match, it deserves an entry on the list. During a random dark match after RAW, we had the team of Shawn Michaels and Randy Orton taking on Evolution members Ric Flair and Triple H.

During this clash, with Orton and Triple H in the ring, Triple H jumped from the second turnbuckle to a grounded Orton's boot. Triple then proceeded to sell in an extremely sloooooow manner to Orton's "fatal move". The reaction of everyone in the ring was definite proof of just how hilarious this moment was.

#4. Randy Savage's pin attempt

Before R-Truth brought in a ladder inside a ring to clinch the "WWE World Heavyweight Title" during the 2016 Royal Rumble, or ,well before various wrestlers attempted to submit his or her opponent during a battle royale, we had Randy Savage's epic mistake that cost him the opportunity to headline the infamous WrestleMania 9.

Savage and Yokozuna were the last two men standing during the 1993 Royal Rumble match, with the winner going on to challenge the WWF Champion Bret Hart at that year's WrestleMania. Savage had the match won after hitting the flying elbow drop on "the Great Kokina". However, rather than capitalizing on the moment to throw Yokozuna out of the ring, Savage pinned him. In a Royal Rumble match. Yokozuna obviously kicked out of the move, causing Savage to launch himself in hilarious fashion over the top rope to clinch Yokozuna's win.

#3. Every Stone Cold Stunner on The Rock

There are few finishers in WWE that are as iconic as the Stone Cold Stunner. Steve Austin probably had only three or four moves in his actual arsenal, but the Stunner was enough to make everyone in the crowd to stand up and cheer. When talking about the Stunner, we should also talk about the Rock, since the Great One has probably received the move the most often.

There is a certain fashion in which The Rock sells the stunner. It's quite evident when you compare how The Rock sells the move and how someone else sells the move. The Rock would bounce all over the ring as if he had been electrocuted. There is no denying that The Great One has been exaggerating the damage taken from the move. However, The Rock's selling of the Stone Cold Stunner is just as iconic as the move itself.

#2. Santino Marella's cobra on JTG

Before we begin, here's a fun fact. Only two WWE Superstars kicked out of Santino Marella's "deadly" finisher, The Cobra: Sheamus and Daniel Bryan. It was probably because Marella was majorly used as a comedy act in WWE. However, there is no denying that he was also really good at it. He gave us many hilarious moments, even though he had to embarrass himself on TV most of the time.

However, his most hilarious segment would be his match against JTG during an episode of WWE Superstars. It was during this segment that we knew how "deadly" Marella's Cobra actually was. JTG evaded Marella's Cobra attempt for a sleeper hold. What happened next was a hilarious sequence of events which involved overselling at its peak. Credits must be given to both Marella and JTG for the comedy gold that we enjoyed back then.

#1. The SummerSlam 2005 match between Shawn Michaels and Hulk Hogan.

All four of the above mentioned moments were just for fun at its core. However, the current entry is all about backstage politics and the response to it. Hulk Hogan and Shawn Michaels were scheduled to have a feud with three matches during the summer of 2005. Hogan would win the first one, Michaels would win the next, and ending with Hogan winning the decider and the feud. However, Hogan refused to have three matches due to "his health" and said he could only compete in one bout. Obviously, this move by Hogan upset Michaels.

His response was the 2005 SummerSlam main event had Shawn Michaels throwing himself around the ring like a rag doll for over twenty minutes. The Heart Break Kid's response to simple moves like punches and the Big Boot was hilarious, to say the least.
