It’s WrestleMania season and as you’ve probably guessed by now, we’re pretty excited about it. This time of the year feels like the build-up to Christmas Day for wrestling fans, as we countdown towards the moment that pyro goes off and the main show begins.

The last few editions of the show of shows have varied in terms of overall quality, but regardless of that, we always manage to be rewarded with a consistently great event as a whole. From the match graphics to the superstars involved in the big matches, there’s a great deal to be happy about when it comes to Mania.

We’ve attempted to narrow this list down to five, although you can trust us when we say that many more entries could’ve been included. Some of these relate to watching it live and others don’t, but either way, it’s all a part of the experience.

With that being said, here are the five most exciting things about WrestleMania.

#5 The Surprises

Who will pop up this year in New Orleans?
Who will pop up this year in New Orleans?

When The Hardy Boyz returned at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando, the stadium erupted.

If there was a roof on the Citrus Bowl, it would’ve been blown off because Matt and Jeff received one hell of an ovation. The multiple-time tag team champions were rumoured to return to WWE for quite some time, although a few of the fans could’ve anticipated that their comeback would be so dramatic.

This time around in New Orleans, we’ll be waiting to see what surprises WWE has up their sleeves once again, which is something that we can all look forward to – in a similar fashion to the Royal Rumble.

Who knows, perhaps Stone Cold will decide to pop up on the grandest stage of them all for the first time since Wrestle Mania 32.

#4 The Stadium

Mania always feels like a special occasion
Mania always feels like a special occasion

One of the most amazing things about WrestleMania is that since the 23rd edition of the event back in Detroit, it’s always been held in a stadium.

The crowds of 70,000 plus make Mania feel even more spectacular, with the venue being one of the main reasons why so many foreign fans are able to travel the world in order to watch it live.

WWE’s arena shows are great and everything, but Mania has always been a show that has belonged on a literal bigger stage. Plus, as we’ve seen with the Rumble in 2017 and in 2019, the big four PPVs are starting to transition into this line of thinking too.

Now if only we could convince Vince to host it at Wembley.

#3 The Atmosphere

The fans know how to make some noise
The fans know how to make some noise

Whether you’re watching the show at home or you’re there live at the stadium, you can feel the electric atmosphere when WrestleMania begins.

The entire process of waking up and realising that Mania day is upon you is magical because we all wait 365 days for it to go down. There are tailgate parties, events hosted in other cities with iconic Hall of Famers, and much like the Super Bowl, people have friends over for the sole purpose of watching the event unfold.

We aren’t suggesting that Mania is on the same level as the Super Bowl, but you can’t deny that thousands upon thousands of casual fans tune into Mania to see whether or not their old favourites will make a return.

#2 The Spotlight

We’re going to build off of the last point for this entry because it really does highlight professional wrestling’s ability to transcend certain demographics. For one night a year, whether it be for good or bad, the entire world is watching to see what WrestleMania is going to produce this time around.

The likes of ESPN do a brilliant job of covering Mania, and in turn, news outlets from every corner of the globe are always looking to get the latest wrestling scoop as we enter the early stages of April. Sure, it’s not great for the overall product if fans are just tuning in and out whenever they please, but the mainstream attention that WWE gets during Mania week can’t be a bad thing.

Plus, it does wonders for the economy of the host city.

#1 The Moments

We'll never forget the ending of WM33
We'll never forget the ending of WrestleMania 33

Daniel Bryan defeating Batista & Randy Orton in the main event of WrestleMania 30. The Undertaker riding off into the sunset at WrestleMania 33. Seth Rollins capturing the world title at the conclusion of WrestleMania 31.

All of these moments and much more are what make WrestleMania the greatest sporting spectacle on earth because you just never know what’s going to happen.

Even if you THINK you know what the result of any given match will be, WWE finds a way to pull a fast one on you when you least expect it. The emotional rollercoaster of watching this show from start to finish is enough to exhaust anybody, and that’s why you can never take your eyes off it.
