The Mae Young Classic was a great success for WWE. Not only was it a groundbreaking endeavour, but the tournament was a great stage for some of the most promising female pro wrestlers to compete on one stage.

WWE obviously likes this kind of tournament set-up on WWE Network to further highlight its value. It also affords them an opportunity to showcase their ability to gather top talent from around the globe to choose from.

The Cruiserweight Classic was an amazing success and the Mae Young Classic topped the eight most-watched WWE Network Shows the week it was released. The tournament is garnering a lot of praise and we can only assume WWE has more tournaments in store for us.

But what will they come up with next? Here's a neat list of ones we'd like to see.

#1 Women's Tag Team Tournament

It's the wom
It's the women's turn to tag

In the midst of the WWE Women's Revolution, it only makes sense to take things to the next level. The Mae Young Classic was a great idea and showcased some of the best female talent WWE could find. So why not let them do it in pairs?

If WWE could couple women up for a tournament it might be a worthwhile endeavour. It could also be a great chance for WWE to finally introduce WWE Women's Tag Team Championships.

After all, those titles could add a special something to the WWE Women's Division regardless of which brand they wound up on.

With the turnout of performers hungry to perform in the Mae Young Classic, it's untelling how many amazing tag teams WWE could comprise if they went full-tilt into a tournament like this.

#2 Tag Team Tournament

Trouble
Good 'ol two on two action

A WWE tag team tournament might sound like a great idea because it's already been done before. In fact, they might even use the name "Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic" again. After all, it was a really big hit when they've had this tournament before, but it was an NXT exclusive event in the past.

Finn Balor and Samoa Joe came out on top of the first Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and Authors Of Pain won the second. However, opening the tournament up to every tag team on the planet might make this even more interesting.

There are a ton of amazing tag teams in Canada, the United States, United Kingdom, and the rest of the globe. If WWE could pull together a global tag team tournament and let them pull out all the stops, this could be the recipe for amazing things.

#3 Submissions Tournament

Ask him, ref!

WWE has some of the most talented grapplers on the planet but they could always use some more. The world is full of outstanding sports entertainers who can transition from one submission hold to another in a flawless and fluid fashion.

It would be a fine idea to gather up the best submission artists from all over for one outstanding tournament of submission matches. They could take away pinfalls, disqualifications, and count outs so the only way to end a match is when one man gives up.

This kind of idea might result in more than one classic by the time it's all said and done. We would certainly tune in to see every torturous submission hold.

If they opened this tournament up to WWE Superstars it would make it even more interesting. But even if WWE pulled every participant from other promotions it would still be plenty full of intense action.

#4 Hardcore Tournament

Let's
Let's get extreme!

Okay, this one might be a stretch for the PG Era, but we're starting this list off with a bang and swinging for the fences. Just imagine if WWE were to gather up all of the top hardcore wrestlers from around the world to compete at Full Sail University in a sea of broken glass and barbed wire.

There are plenty of independent promotions to pick from if you want to find old-school hardcore wrestling.

This kind of idea might get fans back into watching wrestling who fell out when the PG Era started. But WWE also might find some people tuning out and they could get some real heat for this from a public relations stand point. So it's probably better just leave this one to wishful thinking.

But it would still be pretty awesome.

#5 Latin American Tournament

Lucha Libre wrestling has a rich tradition and heritage which would bring a lot of fans to the table. WWE has been looking for as much talent they can get in order to secure their Hispanic audience and this kind of tournament would check a lot of boxes toward success.

In order to pull off a tournament like this WWE would probably be wise to partner up with Crash Luchas, AAA, or another Mexican promotion. It might take some negotiation, but it's totally doable.

With the amount of pull WWE has and the desire to be seen on a global stage, they might be able to pull in some of the biggest names in Lucha Libre for this tournament.

Not only is it in the realm of possibility but it would also result in some outstanding, fast-paced matches. It might also bring some interest into the rich history of Lucha Libre which isn't a bad thing either.
