We believe this move also counts as a ‘first time ever’ spot

Historically, WCW used to do free television specials called ‘Clash of the Champions’. As legend has it, with Wrestlemania 4 right around the corner, Jim Crockett paired Ric Flair against Sting, and they put on a classic that made Sting an absolute superstar. They went toe to toe with Wrestlemania, and that achievement remains one of the biggest feats in wrestling from that era. Through the duration of WCW, there were more ‘Clash of the Champions’ specials, and after the company’s demise, WWE replaced their Vengeance pay-per-view with ‘Night of Champions’. The idea was simple.
Every single title in the company would be defended that night. Clash of Champions, a first-time event employs the same philosophy. This was the first ever Raw only pay-per-view of the new era, and we hope there are several more successful editions in the future.
