The Royal Rumble PPV is fast-approaching

Royal Rumble is one of the most traditional and loved Pay-Per-Views of the year, and it is also the place where the road to WrestleMania officially begins.

With the landscape of the WWE drastically changing due to the emergence of newer superstars, there are huge expectations on how the 2019 Royal Rumble will turn out to be.

However, this year's men's Royal Rumble match seems to be the most unpredictable one in the past decade or so.

I call this year's Rumble unpredictable not just because of our inability to predict the winner, but also how the surprise entrants will turn out to be in the hour-long match. They can be the returning superstars like Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, or the superstars from the past like Chris Jericho and others, and also the NXT wrestlers.

Over the years, the Royal Rumble has served as a testing ground for several NXT stars like Andrade 'Cien' Almas, Sami Zayn, Adam Cole, Rusev.

Here are five NXT Superstars who could appear in the 2019 Royal Rumble match at the Chase Field.

#5 Ricochet

Which are the wrestlers that comes to your mind when you hear the name, Royal Rumble? Most of the people's answer would be Kofi Kingston or John Morrison, and the one common thing between these two incredible stars is their method of wrestling. This is because of the fact that the high-flying wrestlers will make the most impact in a Rumble match. Ricochet could be the newest addition to this list.

The North American Champion is probably the best high-flyer in the entire wrestling industry let alone WWE, and his entry into the Royal Rumble 2019 can be the talking point of the show.

This entry in the annual battle royal can just be a one-off affair so that the non-internet WWE Universe can get familiarized with the one and only Ricochet.

With him holding the North American Championship, he is the least expected wrestler to show up at the year's second biggest event. A standoff between King and wrestlers such as Seth Rollins or AJ Styles can blow the roof of the arena.

#4 Velveteen Dream

Velveteen Dream is arguably the most charismatic wrestler in the WWE right now, and easily one of the most over wrestlers in the industry at the moment. The 23-year-old has achieved this in the two years that he has been part of the company.

Despite finishing in the 9th place in the Tough Enough which produced two main roster talents in Mandy Rose, and Sonya Deville, Dream is still the best superstar to come out of the competition.

Like Ricochet, this can also be a one-off appearance as there is still a lot for him to achieve in NXT. With the age on his side, WWE can try to invest more time in him in the NXT.

#3 Lars Sullivan

Since Survivor Series, there have been several vignettes of Lars Sullivan's debut in the main roster, but he has been a no show on both the brands so far and with Royal Rumble fast approaching, Sullivan can make his much-awaited debut in the Royal Rumble match.

The McMahon family has taken over the running of the roster, and have decided to freshen things up by bringing up NXT stars to both the brands and Sullivan is one of them. It is highly unlikely that he will actually go on to win the match, but that doesn't mean he cannot have a strong showing in the match.

The Rumble can also be the perfect place to introduce the monster to the WWE Universe and also tease his first feud on the main roster.

#2 Pete Dunne

The Bruiserweight

It is about time that the Bruiserweight makes an appearance on the main roster, and Chase Field can be the best arena for him to make his presence.

The current United Kingdom Champion, Pete Dunne is the longest reigning champion of the modern era. He has been UK Champion since May 20, 2017, and it looks like he will be holding on to the title even longer.

Like Ricochet, the WWE Universe may never expect a champion to be a surprise entrant in the annual Royal Rumble match. Also, he is a better option than the likes of Tommaso Ciampa, and Aleister Black who need to be protected a lot because of their gimmicks.

With age on his side, HHH can have him spend more time in the yellow brand, and have him only make sporadic appearances on the main roster.

#1 EC3

While EC3 has made sporadic appearances on Main Event, he is yet to make his in-ring debut for the red or the blue brand, and there is no bigger match than Royal Rumble for EC3 to make his mark.

EC3 is everything that Vince looks for. He has the right looks, the right body, and the right wrestling style. Don't be surprised if Ethan Carter III is made to look like a million bucks, and given a big push.

Like Drew McIntyre, He had an abysmal first run with the company, and he went into the indie scene to make himself a better wrestler and has now returned to the biggest company in the industry.

EC3 has spent only a few months in the WWE's development center- NXT and is already scheduled to be called up to the main roster. Royal Rumble can be the place where this call-up can happen. This Royal Rumble match can be used to place him in a feud with Bobby Lashley for the Intercontinental Championship.
