5 of the best auras in WWE history

Bray Wyatt and his fireflies light up the arena

We all know that wrestling tries to portray itself as a legitimate sport where matches are decided purely on athletic skill, but in reality, pro wrestling is a form of sports entertainment with pre-determined outcomes and carefully designed characters.

There are multiple examples over the years of wrestlers who use abilities and their auras that can’t be explained and can only be described as a use of mystical energy. Over the course of history, so many wrestlers have shown powers beyond the scope of human imagination.

Some of the biggest names in pro wrestling history have had massive auras about them and now we take a look at 5 such Superstars with the best auras in WWE history

#5 Gangrel

Gangrel ascending from the flames

Gangrel was a WWE superstar with a rather interesting gimmick for the company. It was made quite explicit that Gangrel was a vampire. His name was taken from the popular Vampire: The Masquerade role-playing game.

He rose from the depths of the arena in a ring of fire, he drank “blood” from a jeweled chalice, and he had fangs. When Gangrels entrance music hit fans would get excited. His entrance was one of the greatest of all time, with brilliant music accompanied by an entertaining rise from the arena to be met with fire.

There was a period of time where his character could even shut off the lights and cover his opponents in blood. All of this combined added to the aura Gangrel had within the company.

#4 Kane

The big red machine, Kane

When you talk about superstars in WWE having an aura about them, one of the first names that come to mind would have to be, Kane. Not as much these days (yes I’m looking at you corporate Kane), but certainly in the past, this big Red monster had a strong aura about him.

Having received some sort of power through his mother’s bloodline he has exhibited unnatural abilities to shrug off all but the most powerful attacks, given enough time. In addition, Kane, holds a certain power over flame, causing anything to explode into fire simply by gathering his will.

Kane was the stuff of nightmare for people and his presence in the WWE will always be looked back on fondly by most.

#3 Sting

The man they call Sting

Stings had portrayed a cool surfer dude from Venice Beach as his character in WCW for years. He felt betrayed by his fellow WCW Superstars in the wake of the nWo invasion, and retreated to the rafters, where he would spend over a year in quiet contemplation of the war between WCW and nWo.

In the process, Sting changed his entire appearance to resemble a character from a popular movie, The Crow. Sting had gained mystical powers with his new gimmick along with the teleportation powers and ability to affect the lights that many supernatural superstars had.

When Stings music hit, there was no denying the strong presence and aura felt by all the fans as he made his way to the ring.

#2 Bray Wyatt

The eater of world, Bray Wyatt

Bray Wyatt suggests that he’s been given the ability to see more than normal human beings, thanks to a mysterious “Sister Abigail”, who has never been seen by anyone but Bray and the members of his Wyatt Family.

He has shown the ability to appear in the ring whenever he chooses, under the cover of sudden, unexplained darkness. The most striking thing about Bray Wyatt would have to be his entrance to the ring.

The aura he has about him when the lights turn off, his fireflies light up the arena and he makes his slow walk with his lamp to the ring cannot be denied by anyone.

#1 The Undertaker

The Phenom during one of his more entertaining entarnces

When you discuss wrestling and auras, the conversation always begins with the Phenom, The Undertaker.

The Undertaker seems to hold sway over the powers of life and death and could also summon and direct powerful lightning attacks.

Many attempts have been made over several decades to actually end the life of The Undertaker, from locking him inside air-tight caskets, to attempting to set him on fire, all the way up to burying him alive multiple times. In each instance, The Undertaker has always returned, often more powerful than he had been when defeated.

It cannot be denied that when The Undertakers music hits and he begins his slow decent to the ring, everybody watching in the arena and around the world is in awe at the presence of the Deadman.
