5 picks to win the first Women's Royal Rumble match

Enter capti
Could it be?

Since it's inception in 1988, The Royal Rumble has been one of the WWE's most iconic annual events. Joining Survivor Series, SummerSlam, and Wrestlemania, The Rumble is one of the elite pay-per-view's known by most fans as "The Big Four."

Each year fans look forward to the January event because of its history, unpredictability and of course because The Royal Rumble represents the official start of Wrestlemania Season.

The main event of each year's Rumble is the actual Royal Rumble match itself. The winner of this match guarantees himself a spot in the main event at Wrestlemania. Needless to say, the stakes are high for this particular contest. However, one issue that some have taken with this annual event, is the fact that the ladies of WWE don't have a Rumble match to compete in.

But things have changed and the sport has evolved in regards to the way fans, as well as the company perceives women's wrestling.

With that said, is it finally time to share the spotlight with the ladies? Who would be a good candidate to represent the women's division as the potential first ever Royal Rumble match winner and possibly go on to co-headline Wrestlemania?

Here's a look at my 5 picks to be the first female to win an all women's Royal Rumble match.

#5 Sarah Logan

The ceiling is high for this new Superstar!

Let's go ahead and kick this list off with our longshot. Sarah Logan recently exploded onto the main roster as the muscle behind the newly formed women's faction known as The Riott Squad. I have been extremely high on this star ever since the news broke of her signing a WWE contract.

During her pre-WWE career, she was known by her former alias, which was "Crazy Mary Dobson." It was during this time that she began to turn heads and ultimately, gain the attention of WWE officials.

The time to buy Sarah Logan stock is NOW! I predict she will be the one to break away from her stable and achieve the most success. In fact, a win of this stature, in a match such as the first women's Royal Rumble, would be the perfect catalyst for a run as a big time WWE Superstar.

#4 Nia Jax

Nia Jax looks to continue her rise to the top of women's wrestling

Nia Jax was elevated to the main roster in 2016, courtesy of the 2016 Draft. Admitingly, I was beyond sceptical of her ability to perform at this level, especially considering her work in NXT, while it was minimal, still left much to be desired.

Simply put, Nia Jax had not lived up to the hype which accompanied her family legacy.

Jax made her way onto the main roster with a chip on her shoulder, understanding that she would need to go above and beyond the norm, in order to prove her value and worth to the WWE Universe. This was exactly what she has done and in doing so, she has certainly lived up to her family's legendary legacy.

#3 Bayley

Can Bayley get back to her winning ways?

One of the biggest surprises of the year happens to be the lack of production on behalf of the WWE's resident super-hugger, Bayley. During her time in NXT, Bayley became one of the most beloved and successful names in the Yellow brands history. With her arrival on the main roster, there was a ton of hype accompanying her as well.

Bayley has not seen the level of success that she had become used to while in Orlando, but make no mistake about it, there is plenty of time for Bayley to shine, and she certainly will in due time. Could it start with a Royal Rumble win?

Personally, I wouldn't be opposed to having her stand on the middle turnbuckle and point to the Wrestlemania banner, after winning the match.

#2 Asuka

She's supremely underrated!

What Asuka did in NXT is something that we will likely never see another female talent do again. Asuka came into the company and completely owned each and everyone she faced. Her title reign was something like a work of art. Watching her work and achieve what she did in such a relatively short amount of time is something that was a pleasure to witness.

Now she has been elevated to the big show, if-you-will. Asuka has made her way to the main roster and she's already earned the respect of every lady on the roster.

Asuka is not only flawless in the ring herself, but she has a unique ability to make everyone around her better as well. When someone steps into the ring to face her, they know it's showtime and there is absolutely no room for error.

#1 Ronda Rousey

The time has come... hopefully!

Since her impromptu appearance alongside The Rock at Wrestlemania 31, fans have been chomping at the bit in anticipation of the news that Ronda Rousey had signed with WWE. Unfortunately, that has yet to happen. But it appears that we could be closer than ever at landing the former UFC Champ.

Rousey would bring not only a Superstar name to the company but also a general sense of how this crazy world of professional wrestling actually works. A match such as the Rumble is one that requires very little technique, but instead, the match requires careful attention to detail in regards to the flow of the match.

I think she would not only be a great surprise, but an even better pick to win the contest, considering she actually does in fact sign with the company in the near future.
