5 possible angles for Big Cass as a singles competitor

Enzo and Cass have struck fire since they debuted on the main roster on the Raw after WrestleMania. Other than AJ Styles’ debut at the Rumble, I can’t remember the last time main roster debutants were nearly as over as Enzo and Cass.

Unfortunately, Enzo received a pretty bad concussion at WWE Payback against The Vaudevillains. With WWE’s current strict rules in regard to concussions, it’s likely that Enzo will be out of action for quite a while. This is a serious blow to the duo, but it’s possible for WWE to keep them relevant in the meanwhile. Keeping Big Cass off screen till Enzo’s healed properly will be a mistake.

It looks like fate has intervened to give Big Cass a singles run, however, whether he can deliver in singles competition is still a question mark.

With that being said Big Cass I’ve carefully looked at 5 angles for Big Cass for his run as a singles competitor. I’ve tried to book the angles so as to protect Big Cass till he’s used to Enzo’s absence in the corner turnbuckle ready to tag in.

5: Retribution

Enzo and Cass are more than just tag-team partners. They’ve been friends since developmental. More than friends, they’re brothers. What happened to Enzo at Payback was scary. You could see Big Cass in tears while paramedics attended the unconscious before accompanying paramedics to the hospital to be with his brother.

With The Vaudevillians gloating over giving Enzo a concussion and sending him to the emergency room in the weeks since, Big Cass’ first act as a single’s wrestler has to be revenge. He could interfere on New Day’s behalf during their match at Extreme Rules, as an answer to The Vaudevillian’s interfering to lay out the trio on Raw yesterday.

This could lead to a program between Cass and the lads from the ‘bygone era’. This could lead to singles matches between Cass and The Vaudevillians before the storyline culminates in a 2-on-1 handicap match between them.

4: Vigilante

When Big Cass interfered Chris Jericho’s promo on Raw this week, the crowd went nuts. Big-time nuts. With that reaction in mind, I’d book Big Cass as a vigilante following his storyline with Simon Gotch and Aiden English.

Big Cass could interfere when heels run down a crowd or are in the process of taking out babyfaces. This would give Cass purpose and something to do as Enzo heals up properly. He could take on any dearth of mid-card and upper mid-card heels, like The Miz or maybe even someone like Kevin Owens. He could even be cheated out of victory to fans to sympathize with him.

This could even lead to Cass calling up backup to even the odds. More on that on the next point.

3: The Princess

Enzo and Cass’ debut on the main roster has been conspicuous with the absence of Carmella, the Princess of Staten Island, their manager for most of their NXT career. Carmella and the guys are a perfect fit. She’s also a good manager, has decent mic skills and she can go in the ring. Cass and Carmella are also dating in real life.

With Cass on his own now, he could definitely use the backup of Carmella in his corner. The duo has the potential to be the new Macho Man and Miss Elizabeth. As in the previous angle, with Cass going up against some of the biggest heels in the company, Carmella could suddenly come out in a situation where the heels have the upper hand on Cass. The pop when she would come out would be huge and could set up the duo in a host of angles following this.

2: Champion?

With Cass firmly set as a crowd favorite with Carmella by his side, he would begin his quest to earn his first title in the WWE. Remember, Enzo and Cass were shockingly never NXT Tag Team Champions.

Cass could go after the US title belt, which desperately needs a boost. Kalisto’s reign has done nothing whatsoever for it. Even though Cass won’t be the most experienced, his run as a champion could be very interesting. It’s fresh, and that’s very important. Who wants to see Randy Orton and Sheamus trudging after a title again? The answer is no one.

Imagine Big Cass going head to head with John Cena for the US Championship in a face vs face match. It would cement Cass as a player in the WWE. If face vs face is a dynamic that the WWE doesn’t want to go with, he could feud with a heel champion like Jericho, Rusev or Owens.

1: Reunion

The goal for the near future is to bring back Enzo and Cass as a team. For now, they’re stronger and more over as a team. Cass’ potential ceiling as a single’s wrestler can only be determined after he has a lot more experience, otherwise a strong push could lead to fan backlash (ask Roman Reigns).

Cass could take beat down by a heel challenger when the music hits and Enzo returns to save his buddy with the trio finally reuniting. Following this, they could challenge The New Day for their Tag-Team titles at SummerSlam, setting up a face vs face dream match. The live SummerSlam crowd would definitely eat it up, and the match would be a first time ever since Enzo and Cass have never faced The New Day before.

This would end with the realest guys in the room FINALLY lifting tag team gold in the WWE after years of hard work and setbacks. It wouldn’t be a Daniel Bryan level storyline, but with proper writing, it could be something special.
