5 Possible opponents for new SmackDown Women's Champion Charlotte Flair

Charlotte Flair stunned the WWE Universe at Hell in a Cell on Sunday when she defeated Bayley to win her 10th Women's Championship.

"The true test of a role model isn’t how they handle victory, but how they handle adversity," reads an excerpt of WWE.com's PPV results. "And Bayley unquestionably showed her mettle — if not always her sportsmanship — by evading Charlotte Flair to hold on to the SmackDown Women’s Championship over the last two months. But inevitability, and perhaps karma, caught up with The Hugger at WWE Hell in a Cell, where The Queen toppled her fellow Horsewoman to earn her 10th Women’s Championship, cementing herself atop the SmackDown pecking order just days before the WWE Draft."

Following the major milestone title win for Charlotte Flair, let's take a look at five Superstars she could defend the title against in the coming months.

#5 Alexa Bliss

With the WWE roster draft kicking off next week, it's anyone's guess as to which brands talents will end up on, but should Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair both land on the same brand, it would make sense for The Goddess to get a title shot.

Bliss just came off a run with the WWE Women's Tag Team titles alongside Nikki Cross, and it might be a good time for her to return to singles action and compete for a top women's title.

It appeared as if Alexa Bliss was destined to turn on Nikki Cross when the pair were first teamed up, but that never took place, and in the process, it looks like Cross and Bliss have established themselves as a babyface team in WWE.

With Charlotte Flair also looking to turn babyface on WWE TV, it might be fun to see a friendly Championship match between two stars who have not faced off in singles competition in awhile.

#4 Lacey Evans

This week on WWE RAW, Lacey Evans will face-off against Natalya in a Last Woman Standing match, as the two have been feuding for the past several weeks on WWE TV.

Before her feud with Natalya, Lacey Evans received a RAW Women's title shot against Becky Lynch in the form of a tag team main event match at WWE Extreme Rules, but she lost the match and the opportunity to challenge for the gold in the future.

Now might be a good time for WWE to send Evans over to SmackDown in the draft next week, where she could begin a long feud with Charlotte Flair.

Evans is a talented member of the female roster with a great persona, and she is solid in the ring and on the mic.

A title feud would be a good way to push Evans back into the main event picture in the women's division, and she could likely have some great matches with Charlotte Flair, who has a similar in-ring style and athletic build which could complement that of the Southern Sassy Belle.

Lacey Evans has been a staple of the Raw brand for quite some time, and it might freshen up her status on the women's roster if she is drafted over to SmackDown next week.

#3 Carmella

Carmella

Carmella might not immediately come to mind as a great opponent for Charlotte Flair, as The Queen is known for her excellent in-ring abilities, and the former 24/7 Champion is known for her entertainment value.

However, with Carmella lingering in the 24/7 title picture alongside R-Truth, it might be a good idea to give her a rest from being Truth's sidekick and give her a run as a challenger to Charlotte Flair's title.

Carmella is a former SmackDown Women's Champion herself, having won the title after she cashed in Money in the Bank, so a return to the title picture might not seem out of the question for the Staten Island standout.

Carmella has seen very sporadic in-ring competition since being paired up with R-Truth, and her winning the 24/7 title was fun, but is also becoming a bit monotonous along with Truth running the 24/7 title scene.

Splitting her off from Truth for a while so she can get back to in-ring action might be a good way to freshen up Carmella.

The duo of Carmella and R-Truth could eventually reunite, and it might even be a good idea to pull Truth away from the 24/7 title for a while to give other talents (or legends?) the opportunity to have run with the Championship.

#2 Ember Moon

Ember Moon had a brief run at the top of the Women's division back in the summer when she faced Bayley for the WWE SmackDown Women's title, but after she lost the match, The Shenom disappeared from TV and has been seen very little since the August PPV.

Most fans would agree that Ember Moon is one of the most talented and unique Superstars in the women's division.

It might be a good time for Ember Moon to remain in SmackDown so she can eventually challenge Charlotte Flair for the Women's title.

Ember Moon possesses a very interesting in-ring style, and it could work very well with Charlotte Flair's in-ring style, and provide several great matches in a feud that could span the next couple WWE PPV events.

It seems like the time has come for Ember Moon to take the next step to the top of the women's division, or her time might pass and fans might lose interest in the once red hot WWE Superstar.

#1 Sonya Deville

Sonya Deville
Sonya Deville

With her title win on Sunday night at Hell in a Cell, Charlotte Flair is now a 10-time WWE Women's Champion, and has cemented her place in the history of great women's roster competitors.

As it pertains to Flair's first title defence following her win at Hell in a Cell, that might go to Bayley should WWE consider to give the hugger another shot at regaining the title, but should Bayley come up short in her bid to win back the gold, then the next challenger should go to an up-and-comer.

Sonya Deville has made a solid name for herself in a tag team alongside Mandy Rose, but she has yet to earn a singles title shot or a real run as a singles Superstar. Deville is a talented Superstar with a lot of untapped potential, and it might be a good idea to give her a singles push and engage her in a feud with Charlotte Flair.

Deville's MMA style background and in-ring approach could be a great fit against Charlotte Flair, and would help build up yet another name in a budding women's division that will need help once the WWE brand split returns next week.
