Kane returned in shocking fashion during the cage match on Raw between Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns. This was not only a huge surprise but it also changed the main event at TLC to stack the odds against The Hounds Of Justice even more.
But this still begs the question why Kane came back to WWE at this point. So let's take a look at 5 possible reasons why Kane decided to put on his mask once again and return to WWE for at least one match against The Shield.
#1 Politics is harder than wrestling
Kane is currently running for Mayor of Knox County Tennesse under his real name Glenn Jacobs. He's been doing a pretty good job of keeping his name relevant in the political arena since the announcement that he intends on running for office.
He's had some famous friends like Daniel Bryan and Ric Flair endorse him for Mayor even though they don't live in his district.
The election isn't until 2018 so Kane still has time to get back on the campaign trail. He very well might have created enough of an impression already to make himself a front-runner.
But there's always the possibility Kane decided he would rather deal with the politics in WWE rather than actual politics for now. It might be a refreshing change of pace, to say the least.
#2 Revenge for The Undertaker
This is a popular theory because Roman Reigns was the guy who allegedly retired Kane's brother The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33.
Since Kane returned during a match with Roman Reigns and attacked The Big Dog, it might only be logical Kane hat a target on Reigns' huge Samoan back.
Kane could have returned in order to avenge his brother's defeat at the Show Of Shows in Orlando.
After all, Kane and The Undertaker might have been at war plenty of times during their careers but kayfabe blood runs thicker than water in WWE. Kane's insertion into the TLC main event might be another reminder of the enemies Roman Reigns has created along the way.
Seeing how Kane will have four other partners for the match at TLC, it will also give him ample protection in case he's still got some ring rust on him.
#3 WWE just loves surprises
WWE loves turning things on its head by swerving us into oblivion. As soon fans think they know what is going to happen it seems like a light goes off in Vince McMahon's head every time to do something totally unexpected.
It might be his old-school style but it could also just be the fact that fans love to hypothesize about what will happen next so much that they usually end up chasing rabbits. But Vince McMahon holds all the cards and on Raw, he threw down a massive "Kane card" to shock us all.
Some fans thought the mystery fifth partner would be Samoa Joe, but boy were they wrong. Kane's return to WWE might be short-lived but at least it was a shocking return nobody will soon forget.
#4 Kane can't get enough
Glenn Jacobs has been wrestling since 1992 and in those twenty-five years, he has created a lot of memories. He owes his success and wealth to the pro wrestling business and was able to translate his success in the ring to other ventures.
Kane has owned and operated an insurance agency in Knoxville, Tennessee and it's already been covered that he is running for Mayor in 2018. But he really does owe it all to a business he obviously still loves.
Perhaps Kane got 'the itch" and simply made a phone call to Vince McMahon telling him he's available until a certain date before he has to hit the ground running on his Mayoral campaign.
It has to be hard to stay away from the ring if you're someone like Kane. After all, it looks like he's having fun out there portraying the Big Red Machine or he probably wouldn't still be so good at it.
#5 Prepping for return of The Undertaker
This is another very popular theory because it has an end result most people would love to see. After all, nobody wanted to see The Dead Man hang up his coat, gloves, and hat after WrestleMania 33. Therefore, what is Kane's arrival is a sign The Undertaker's in-ring return is just around the corner?
Some people might discount this as wishful thinking but only time will tell if Kane's return to WWE might encourage his on-screen brother to do the same.
When Kane takes off again to continue his political aspirations it would be nice to have The Phenom return. The actual Undertaker doesn't even need to come back that night because all WWE would need to do is turn the lights off, put up some blue lights and fog, then ring a gong.
If they threw down a lightning bolt, then it would be certain that Big Evil is coming back. All that time The Undertaker could really be in his home just chilling with Michelle McCool.
